Am I? LOL... please tell me the correct 155mm round for tanks in the open then...

LOL. The true sign of intelligence is knowing what you don't know. You don't know fcuk-all about artillery and its uses because you'd have never made that retarded statement in your first post about artillery vs. tanks.

You're stupid. What's more you're so stupid you don't realize you're stupid and you double down on your own stupidity..

Fcuking wikipedia ranger.

You didn't answer anything. Just another one of your stupid RANTS.

Good luck sitting in your tank while it gets blown up from 25 miles away. It's not indirect artillery like you said. But you don't even understand that.

It is precision guided howitzer shells with an accuracy of 4 meters.

I'll probably make tea while the shrapnel tink tink tinks off the armor! LOL

Artillery is indirect fire, dumbass.

LOL. Oh it's PRECISION guided... well fuckme then I guess you can kill anything with it! lol!!

LOL... nope... You're still wrong Dummy.

LOL.

Okay, I'll tell you you fcuking dumbass. Indirect artillery is near useless against armor. With the exception of a freak direct hit, it won't do shit to a tank. You MIGHT if you're lucky damage a track or optics, but it's pretty unlikley.

Artillery is used against dismounted troops, soft skinned vehicles or fixed positions. It's never employed against Armor because the HE rounds can't do shit to a tank. 4 Meter accuracy??? LOL... how long does it take an artillery round to travel 25 miles? Wait I'll save you the time to look it up on wikipedia...(it's about 2 minutes). Guess how far those tanks can travel in 2 minutes... (hint it's greater than 4 meters) LOL Starting to see the picture?

You stupid fcuk. You should learn to shutup while you're ahead or just say, "I don't know".

But you're a Commie. and a damn stupid one at that.

And the triple 7 isn't prized because it can be used and then packed up and moved... it's valuable because it's a lightweight tube... which means it can be air-mobile.

It takes longer to lay a towed arty tube than a M-109. I've crewed both weapons (albeit earlier versions)in training environments I'd much rather ride around in the 109 than tow a tube with a HUMMV.

So in summary, General Dumbass, you should probably stick to what you know... which so far appears to be nothing.

Ask the Russians sitting in their tanks about your stupid RANT.
Oh wait.....they are all dead.

These howitzer shells have satellite guidance systems. That means it adjusts in flight, dipshit.

You are probably still using Windows 3.1

If you're an example of the average Democrat voter it's no wonder you believe the stupid shit you do. You have no real world experience about what it is you think you know.

The majority of Russian tank kills have come from Javelin AT weapons. They are DESIGNED to kill tanks. HE Artillery rounds are designed to kill Infantry...

Let me write it slowly... 155mm HE rounds are fragmentation rounds. They are not anti-tank rounds. See the image below? Even with a rocket booster and GPS to guide the round, it's still NOT designed to penetrate Armor. It's designed to detonate and throw shrapnel to kill soft targets and the concussion of the explosion will also scramble your brains. It won't do anything to a tank other than make a raining sound.

The GPS guidance is not sufficient to hit a moving tank. Even with GPS you are't going to get a direct hit on a dug in tank...

Period.

That you think that, indicates how very little you know about this subject. You're ignorant but think you're some kind of Patton because you read an article on thedrive.com

Moreover, Why do you think Tanks exist? Because artillery ruled the WWI battlefield... tanks allowed operations inside of artillery range... why? BECAUSE ARTILLERY IS USELESS AGAINST a MBT.

If you're going to spout off as if you know something, at least read up on the topic you dumb fcuk. There are kids playing wargames on PS4s that are more knowledgeable about tactics and modern warfare than you, sooper genius.

I think sapper is on point here. I do think the artillery played a role in the big bust at the river crossing(s) but likely because of poor tactics. They were probably bunched and waiting on support to cross and got cooked. I still wouldn't sleep well if I was within 25 miles of one of these.

I saw the the M777 video. it specifically said 8 crewmen.

a howitzer can get away with 5 crewmen. its the minimum need to operate it instead of a full crew.

3 operators plus 2 loaders.

that would be very hard to keep the howitzer fully supplied for continuous firing.

judging from what I've seen from the video, its really 3 that operate it plus 5 ammo loaders.

don't know what the positions is called but one calls out the coordinates, one sets the elevation coordinates on the M777 and finally the gunner.

You are 100% correct... I was totally expecting "Gen Patton" there to bring this up...Just so I could smack his ignorant ass around some more. You can see the holes in the bridging equipment... those were the actual target of the rounds and that's exactly the target you want to hit w/ artillery, soft skins and dismounted troops.

Artillery is the biggest killer of Infantry ever... it is scary to see what a limited barrage can do. I honestly don't know how the WWI trench soldiers managed to survive that shit. Better men than I.

Fcuking stupid Commies' ignorance laid bare.

It’s obvious that VM drives you fucking crazy, dipshit!

You fly off the handle every time he posts something.

Reminds me of a dozen other assholes from your neck of the woods who posted the same kind of ignorant shit and saw the same kind of whookers.

How’s your Love Field game, bubba? Kick anyone’s ass with your bare fists lately?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHSH!

I haven't read every post here, but I don't quite get the controversy pro and con . . .

There are compromises in everything associated with weapons of war . . .and in most other endeavors in general for that matter.

The M-777 howitzer has advantages in simplicity of operation while retaining the ability to shoot precision munitions 15-20 mines (lets not quibble over the numbers).

A disadvantage is that it takes something like 15 min to set and shoot, with a relatively low rate of fire. And it takes another 15 min or so to rig down for transport. There are other 155mmgun systems that can shoot-and-scoot in 60 sec or so while all troops are still under cover. The disadvantage there is the training required to operate the thing and the maintenance and logistics tail they need to keep them up and running in the field.

Te Ukrainians have gotten/will get both types I am reading. OK, it is my hope that whatever gun system is shooting back at the Russians, it is being used in the most effective way according to whatever system it is.

Enough name calling. That never proves a point for either side.
