Forgiveness is not the purpose of "the law" ... for the most part a criminal trial ends with a "Not Guilty" or "Guilty" .... occasionally a "Mistrial" by the Judge. A popular example is O.J. Simpson ... "Not Guilty" in the criminal case, but "liable" in the subsequent civil trial.
