I used to enjoy his films until he went off the deep end.

Mel Gibson! Gallipoli and Apocalypto, which is a war movie, yes.
For a good war movie with a pyschadelic horror twist, try Jacob's Ladder.

They are still good films.
Payback...one of the best of its kind.
Apocalypto, fantastic.
Passion of the Christ, now there's some Balls!
Mel Gibson encourages kids to read. He could wax anti-semitic 23 hours a day and still be a better role model than Lil Wayne, Snoop Dog, LL, Beyonce, Rhiannon, and most every athlete on the block. Fuck Hollywood, let's have more Mel Gibson.

I like all of mel gibson movies. He is just a different breed. If u research history, u will learn mel takes a lot of dramatic license in his story plots.
I bet it would be fun to have a beer with him, but make sure u call a taxi.

I also really liked "last of the mohicans", a bit of a war movie. Great natural cineamatography.

I think he had to stand on a box to get up to Sigourney Weaver's height a la Alan Ladd back in the day.

Oh yeah! I didn't even notice. Geesh I feel even more terrible for not knowing who Stanley Kubrick is he has done some classic twisted movies.
The other funny thing is that a few movies, other then FMJ, that are listed in this thread are also posted in the adlib link...Saving Private Ryan, Dr. Strangelove
As far as Mel... Hmmm c'mon..who doesn't like The Beaver..hehe

I was so disappointed in that movie, but you have to admit Mel takes risks.
Maybe I could come watch The Beaver with you Frank? Perhaps you could enlighten me on some of the subtle nuances, show me some behind the scenes footage?

I like the movie Unthinkable with Samuel L. Jackson. More of a terrorism type movie.

Haven't seen it but I would think in this day and age terrorism movies are war movies. We've had a dozen or so wars since we last declared war so why not.
Ken Burns Civil War series.

Personally, I love Mel Gibson. The Lethal Weapon movies, We Were Soldiers and many more. So he's a wingnut. Who in Hollywood isn't?

The first two Lethal Weapons are pretty great. Can't really remember the third but I did like the opening of part 4 where they went up against an arsonist. I have an uncle who's a Vietnam vet and We Were Soldiers is one of his favorite movies.
I just remembered, apparently Sylvester Stallone wants Mel to direct the third Expendables movie.
