The Daily Show’s Rally to Restore Sanity Predicted a Decade of Liberal Futility
https://newrepublic.com/article/1559...beral-futility
Quote:
Right-wingers across the country had turned town halls into shouting matches about the deficit and the Affordable Care Act that were really thinly veiled attacks against the first black American president. That energy had turned into the loosely connected Tea Party movement, and Beck’s event was a grace note to the Tea Party–fueled GOP takeover in the midterm elections later that year.

Race fuelled the extreme shift.
Racists can't compromise.

my thought as well.. it didn't occur to me to reach back that far, to seek out Conservative actors, LOL.. besides that most of them only look conservative by the standards of today.

Streisand speaks out, and donates tons of money to leftist causes. that may mean nothing to you, but it is a mis-characterization to say she does nothing. Fonda is continually arrested protesting climate change, well into her 80's. I admire her fight, even if I think it is overkill.

yeah, but the Actors and musicians don't come from L.A. and New York, they come from everywhere, and travel to those cities AFTER their social and political ideas are formed.

and then there is the hubris angle, the sneer of command, not a good fit with what is the basis of conservatism
the love of things and hedonism makes some forget their first love and to postpone family, of which, love and family, tend to be a check on wild abandon
then there is the awkwardness of surplus, that causes the need to feel better by adopting liberal causes however misplaced and against the true nature of man they might be and which don't require much in the way of personal sacrifice
and of course, leftism has another purpose for the rich, its sop and giveaway to the commoners form a bulwark against peasants at the gate

the Conservatives need to stand up, if they truly have any numbers, like you suggest. that is how change is created, many liberals have stood up against the power structure, and forced changes.
I like the rest of your argument, most of it makes sense. frankly, I'm sort of shocked someone gave such a well-thought out response in this Forum, it is as rare as a chicken with teeth.

Hypocrites the both of them. Striesand is for 'open borders' but fights to keep the American citizens off of the fucking public beach in front of her Malibu house. Fonda made millions off the capitalist system while she salutes communism. HYPOCRITES!
Meanwhile, Mel Gibson is still making movies, Selleck and Allen still have their own TV shows. "Reach back?" What universe do you live in?
Striesand and Fonda ain't doing shit. Hilariously, these are the paragons of today's dim-retard party.

Hope was funny in his own way, but Crosby is a dreadful singer, in my opinion. hard to believe "White Christmas" was the biggest selling song of all-time, until recently. Crosby barely sounds awake.

So, Chung, is N-R babble more your style? That soothing rhythmic Congo drum-beat and stylized babble up your ally?
Come on, give us your favorites.

ur of a different generation. people liked his songs. so they listened to him. he was prolly also influential in the industry.
you had easy listening, orchestra, rhythms and to a certain extent, blues which was more of a black audience thing during Crosby's time.
now this was before rock, pop and other types became a popular thing.
not a big deal if you didn't like him.
he was a fine singer. he may not have been one of the best, but he carried his own weight.
