Well, it all depends on whether you can trust Senate Republicans, which is a long shot, at best. But I think they will resist any attempts to implement the nuclear option with respect to SCOTUS appointees. Let's hope we don't have to find out.

Reading "nuclear option" in Wikipedia, it appears that Republican Senators during Obama's presidency were no better or worse than other Senate minorities in blocking judges. But still Reid and the Democrats changed the rules. So if Hillary is presented with the opportunity to push through two or three new Supreme Court justices she particularly likes with, say, 51 or 52 votes, do you think the democrats will change the rules of the senate to make that possible? It would be interesting to hear the response of a democrat like Yssup to that question.
Your summation is correct. IMO it's a fair bet that if the Dems regain a slight Senate majority (51-59 seats), they will extend the "nuclear option" to Supreme Court nominees as well. Democrats have no scruples or respect for tradition or checks and balances. It's all a naked power grab to them. They are now so short-term oriented and blinded by their power hunger that they don't even pause anymore and ponder whether changing the rules could backfire down the road if/when Republicans are back in control and can use the same rules against them.

By the way, the reason Harry Reid (the most dishonest, sleazy and corrupt politician ever to hold a Senate leadership position) stooped to the "nuclear option" in 2013 was to let the Dems stack the DC Court of Appeals, which hears most cases involving the ever-expanding federal bureaucracy and its "adminstrative state" that encroaches more and more on the rights and liberties of all Americans.

Bottom line - our politics continues in a race to the bottom, and the Democrats are leading the way! They're the ones who will break long-standing rules of governing and take any means possible to ram their ideological arrogance down our throats.

About That Trump Endorsement, Bogus Poll and “Muslim Deportation”
August 6, 2016

(Paul Nehlen) – Our campaign was all over the news again yesterday, including Paul Ryan coming out swinging while the media hit us with one negative story after another.

We must be doing something right!

With three days to go before we “term limit” Congressman Ryan, I wanted to take some time with you to address three of those negative stories and set the record straight…

About The Trump Endorsement:

Bottom Line: In endorsing Mr. Ryan on Friday night during his speech in Green Bay, Mr. Trump proved he’s the leader we need to unite the Republican Party and win in November.

He needs to squash Hillary. And I need to beat Ryan. Because if Clinton and Ryan are elected in November, Ryan will rubber stamp Hillary’s agenda in January. That said…

Media reports claiming Donald Trump “flip-flopped” by endorsing Ryan are simply not true and a perfect example of the dishonesty Mr. Trump has talked about among all too many reporters and news outlets.

For the record, all Mr. Trump did earlier this week was thank me for a letter I wrote defending him against attacks by Kzihr Khan and complimenting the campaign we’re running. He never said he endorsed me, nor did I expect that he would.

On the other hand, he never said he WOULDN’T endorse Mr. Ryan.

All he did four days ago was throw back into Ryan’s face Ryan’s own words – “not there yet” – as payback for Ryan initially withholding his support for Mr. Trump after Mr. Trump secured the GOP presidential nomination. He was just messing with Ryan.

That said, our team has been pounding thousands of doors for weeks now. And what they were hearing quite often was that although they weren’t happy with Mr. Ryan, they hadn’t heard anything about me.

Mr. Trump’s short, 10-word tweet on Tuesday changed all that.

a.nehlen11

Since then we’ve probably gotten over a million dollars worth of free media publicity and raised more than $250,000 in new, much-needed contributions for the closing days of this campaign!

I very much appreciate Mr. Trump’s kind words about our campaign and the boost he gave us when we needed it most.

And I can’t wait to attend his inaugural next January as the new congressman from Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District.

About that “Poll”

Most people know the names of the reputable polling firms in the political world: Gallup, Zogby, Harris, Rasmussen, Mason Dixon, Quinnipiac, etc. And any poll by any other largely unknown polling operation has to be viewed skeptically.

Now…

Back in mid-July the Ryan camp promoted a poll that supposedly showed him beating us by 49 points, 69-20%. But as we exposed, that poll was conducted by a polling company tied to Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus who happens to be a YUGE Paul Ryan supporter.

Those polling results were about as believable as a Hillary Clinton declaration that she was truthful about her emails.

In any event, on Friday, the Ryan camp promoted another poll by yet another unknown polling company, Remington Research Group. And that poll claims Ryan has increased his lead since the July poll and is now ahead by 66 points, 80-14%.

Those at the kinds of numbers Saddam Hussein used to get!

Call us skeptical. So we did a little checking. Get this…

Remington Research group was founded by a guy named Jeff Roe. And in 2014, Roe did work in Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s race. And Walker, like Priebus, is a YUGE Paul Ryan supporter.

But wait, there’s more…

If you read beyond the horse race numbers that the media couldn’t wait to blare, you’ll find that 90% of the people polled were in urban Milwaukee, with the other 10% coming from urban Madison – both of which account for only a TINY sliver of the entire district!

They didn’t poll in the rural and suburban areas of the 1st District. I wonder why?

There are a number of other flaws in this so-called “poll,” but you get the picture. Ryan’s camp is clearly nervous about us creeping up on him this week, so they put out this bogus poll showing, literally, unbelievable numbers to try to rain on our parade.

Don’t believe this poll any more than you believe a Paul Ryan promise to get tough on the border.

About Deporting “All” Muslims

Who among us has never said something that came out not exactly like how we meant it?

In a radio interview on Thursday, I was asked about President Obama’s Muslim refugee resettlement program that Paul Ryan funded with his omnibus spending bill last December.

And even though I said during the course of the interview that I was talking about Muslims who practice a radical, violent version of Sharia Law, I didn’t include that qualifier in all of my answers. As such, the media cherry-picked my comments and reported that I want to deport “all Muslims.”

My bad. So let me be clear…

My position on this issue is pretty much the same as former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who said on FOX News a few weeks ago after that ISIS murderer mowed down and killed 77 people with a truck in Nice, France…

“Let me be as blunt and direct as I can be. Western civilization is in a war. We should frankly test every person here who is of a Muslim background, and if they believe in sharia, they should be deported. Sharia is incompatible with Western civilization. Modern Muslims who have given up Sharia – glad to have them as citizens. Perfectly happy to have them next door.”

Most importantly, I clearly stated this was a discussion we should have. Such measures certainly have constitutional challenges and concerns. But as Mr. Gingrich said, the situation is so serious and so deadly that we absolutely must talk about options for protecting our people from, as he called them, “medieval barbarians.”

So there you have it.

As Lawrence Lease of the News-Record put it this morning…

“House Speaker Paul Ryan has a shot at losing his seat in Congress to long-shot candidate Paul Nehlen. . . . Nehlen’s message is simple, Paul Ryan is a DC insider whose policies are too similar to Hillary Clinton’s. . . . Despite the under-dog status Paul Nehan has successfully forced Paul Ryan to reconsider Nehlan as a serious opponent. . . . This is the most serious challenge he (Ryan) has faced in hopes of keeping his seat. Wisconsin first elected Paul Ryan in 1998 and has been a career politician in Washington for nearly 20 years.”

On Tuesday, with your help, we will term limit Paul Ryan, end his political career, and shock the army of folks who have been trying to “Save Congressman Ryan” this campaign.

The phrase “molon labe” is a Greek phrase that’s been used to declare a determination not to surrender.

Molon labe!

QUOTE TO NOTE

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. – Mahatma Gandhi

“As the national GOP rushes to protect Ryan from the wrath of Trump, stars from the conservative counter-establishment – former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, columnist Michelle Malkin, and author Phyllis Schlafly, among others – have continued to stoke the fury here (in Wisconsis), with the faint and fading hope that Nehlen could close the gap in the final days and score an upset similar to the one in 2014 that toppled then-House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.). . . .

“Whatever the result, Ryan will move forward with battle scars, which makes the contest at least intriguing – and depressing to Ryan allies. No longer is the party’s highly respected 2012 vice-presidential nominee totally at ease in the district he has represented since he was 28. The winds that have lifted Nehlen still swirl on Capitol Hill, where the speaker has struggled at times to keep together his raucous Republican conference.”

Default RINO's and the downticket

IIFFOFRDB, I like Ryan and Weld. As to RINO's, please see

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DDnvRjCU9A (Trump says he identifies more as a Democrat than a Republican in many instances, and the economy does better under Democrats than Republicans.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xM8jfZTC6Mo (Trump praises Hillary Clinton.)

On another subject, maybe there is hope for Republicans retaining control of Congress, even if there's a blow out in the presidential election. McGovern, the Democrat, lost big time to Nixon in 1972. Still Democrats retained control of the Senate and the House. Democrats controlled both houses from 1957 to 1981 and were the dominant party in the USA, so I'm not sure whether or not that's a good omen for this year. On the other hand, people do dislike Hillary Clinton a lot more than they disliked Nixon in 1972.
