Interesting note - One of the first two people up the tower to confront the shooter was an armed civilian who helped the police with his knowledge of the layout of the tower. In the end, the police asked him to stay by the door and shoot anyone he saw running that way.

I was 11 when this happen, didn't live in Texas. I heard it on the news, but back then there were only three stations, plus PBS.
