One of my many flaws is the disappointment I experience when one of my in-the-fucking-flesh friends sends me an email asking to "friend" my ass...who knew he/she was a friggin' moron! Since I have friends in Asia Pac, Europe, Middle East, and Africa, FB is a necessity for me as it's our primary way of staying in touch and making plans. I don't post pictures but I will email them in private if they want an update. For all of my US friends they just hit me up via text message if they want to chat.

Life is short and so I think we should embrace (with needed caution) and take advantage of technology.

OP, I'm in a similar situation. The provider doesn't want to destroy her family and ruin her career and I'll never tell her that I stumbled on this connection. I feel more secure about seeing her than some 19 yr old with nothing to lose. Besides, it's kinda of a thrill having that secret.

Kind of a retarded logic since my family in Israel and friends in Russia and Europe do the same via text or a simple phone call. But then again I do not have a FB account in my real name.
