I'm not sure I would agree with lumping Stanford in that mix of not caring about sports. Maybe not to the degree of UT, etc. They are able to mix high academic standards as well as put out top ranked teams year in and year out.
I guess Duke would also be another high academic standard/high sports performance school. Their football team use to be a joke and are now highly competitive and making bowl games.
