I haven't read any posts in coed in months, and this is the first one I read today. Well-written and sincere, I thought, but it sure took a turn in the middle. Haha.
During the past 30 years, I've known probably more than 50 providers or hobbyists that developed a personal relationship from the hobby (including me), and some of them even got married. Of that more than 50, I know of only one -- ONE -- that lasted more than a few years. I think it's hard enough staying married in the RW, but it's nearly impossible to stay married to someone you met in the hobby. People THINK they can forget, but they can't, and a person in a personal fight will use their most powerful ammunition to wound the other person. One thing that brought me pleasure from hobbying was spending an hour or two BCD with a pretty girl, forgetting everything else, then leaving to go back to reality. Obviously, that's not what marriage is like. Also, never forget that most hobbying is based on lying, cheating, and deception. Those aren't exactly pillars of a good marriage.
