The difference in Watergate and what is going on now is in Watergate, there was an actual crime committed.

This entire Russian fiasco has always been an investigation in search of a crime.

If no crime was committed, i.e. president Trump colluding with the Russians to win the 2016 election, then they are trying create crimes by any means possible.
