The Who did things way before anyone else. They were known to party hard, very hard, smash guitars on stage, and other things. Their music was ahead of their time. Yes I am old, hell I saw The Beatles together, all four of them in Houston, that was 1966 and I still rank that as one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Long live Rock N Roll!

Wow. Just listened to the link and the music sounded great! (Wish that the song could cure my insomnia tonight!)

I'd like to second Steely Dan! My overall favorite group.

I'm thinking you weren't even born when they were popular.
Check out their performance in the movie "Woodstock". Pete Townsend and his guitar have it out. Can't think of anyone who did that before him. Well, maybe Jimi Hendrix.

Find a country & western station on the radio then twist off the knob and throw it out the window...

Anything with the Dap-Kings in it is worth a listen, if you're a fan of a hot horn section (they were the backing band on Amy Winehouse's breakout). Their partnership with Sharon Jones has been particularly productive over the last decade.

Since I'm feeling "horny", check out the Stax catalogue, particularly Otis Redding.

I've also been listening to "Dusty in Memphis" (Dusty Springfield) a lot lately. That blue-eyed Brit sure could sing soul music.

Jane Birkin/Serge Gainsbourg did a recording a long time ago and I would love to get it for my incall.

Je T'Aime...Moi Non Plus [I Love You...Me, Not Anymore]

http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wi.../ref=wish_list

When the song came out, it was very controversial. A not-so-gentle-hint of wanting something from my wish list! (Link posted above!)

Is anyone familiar with that album???
