Credit cards are NEVER a good idea in this business and can lead to some serious FEDERAL charges because of the money crossing state lines.

And probably 1/3 to 1/2 of that existing cash is probably sitting in a vault/room in Mexico in several drug lords mansions or some dictators' secret stash.

No way in hell I would use a cc or dc or anything like that for hobby purposes.
But then I ma an old timer that does not even believe in ATMs or debit cards.
CC leaves an electronic trail that will never go away.
All electronic transactions leave a trail, time stamp, location, you name it couple that with video surveillance cell phone GPS monitoring and all it takes is the right people to take a look and you are screwed.
If I aint got the cash I dont need no gash.

Hey babe, the first rule of Hobbying is "leave no trail"
The only thing dumber than your idea would be some dumbass Hobbyist who would do it.

looks more like an avenue to be caught from a transaction standpoint. so this company that offers the service can easily be subjected to court actions or trials to prove or disprove. cash is king....unless we trading.

Here is a thought.. guy lets you swipe his card, session goes off with out a hitch.. everyone happy and all smiles... but because his card has a notification setting, he gets an email from the bank saying "your card was used at __________ merchant # for $$$ amount." now normally if he was at a store he would dis-regard it since he was buying stuff.. say.. food. But once he leaves your place he can contact the bank and stop payment on you saying it was an un-authorized charge. He will get a new card if he uses the ole "it was stolen" trick..
You are now out the $$$ and you have to produce a receipt with his signature on it it showing he authorized the charge... but wait! there is NO receipt
Cash is king and the best way for the hobby.. just get smart on checking bills for counterfeit and you should be good.

Okay...Thanks for your replies. I will stick with cash. For some of you that replied, (and you know who you are) you don't have to be so rude and mean. I was just asking a question. All I wanted was a yes or a no and the reason. I have not been doing this long, hence the question.

This topic has been brought up before... as for our "rudeness" simply saying "Yes" or "NO" is usually followed by the questions of "how come" or "why"
So we give you some examples as to why its a bad idea so you will understand it when we say NO

Spirit, sweetie, that's all I wanted. I also stated that I have not been a provider this long. I do think it is rude the someone calls me dumb for no reason. It would be dumb of me not to ask and to just do it. The only dumb question is not asking one at all.

Layla, I been through the "I have to go to the ATM" thing before. I know you thought it was a quick way to solve this. And don't take personal what some of these guys say or call you. Some have no mannors.

I am not going to lie: the 2.75% tax I will pass on to the hobbyist. For those that don't pay attention, the square is a white square that is attached to your smartphone and you use your credit or debit card to swipe through it like a normal credit card reader. If the payer wants, a receipt is sent to their email address. It seems a little bit discreet in certain cases, hence why I am asking. Feel free to give me your truthful opinions.

I say go for it, if you're confident in your client base. As a lady who accepts credit cards, I wouldn't advertise that I do, or allow everyone the opportunity to use a credit card. I allow good friends who don't like to hand me money directly, and those with whom I travel to make deposits. You get too friendly with it, and you'll have a bunch of chargebacks.
Be careful either way.

This would be my example of the guy with whom I would NOT use credit cards. He'd call his credit card in stolen before you had a chance to run it.
