If I had the resources for a hobby vacation I would go to Bangkok Thailand or Angel City Philippines or Amsterdam. But all places are becoming more dangerous for Americans to visit. Safety would be a major consideration in any travel destination planning.

If it was just me I would definitely be down for Thailand or the Phillipines but my wife does not like hookers like I do. Maybe she would like a ladyboy? Hmmm...I’ll have to figure out how to work that into the conversation. Not an easy task with a straight laced Southern Baptist!

South Dakota is a great place to go as stated. Especially on a motorcycle if you ride. You don’t have to just go up during the Sturgis rally to enjoy it. Spring is a great time to go there. The Needles highway is a great ride. But the most breathtaking is climbing the Iron Mountain trail and you make the turn where you get the first view of Mount Rushmore. It is so beautiful from there that I was disappointed when I visited the monument itself. If you go to Deadwood you need to visit Saloon 10 where Wild Bill Hickok was shot. They have the chair he was sitting in on display. It is a great place to visit any way you go but I would highly recommend it on two wheels. If you don’t have a bike, rent a Harley. Maybe I will join you on mine

Try northern Italy for a couple days ( Venice, Verona, Milan) then go to Austria from there! Salzburg, Linz, then Vienna. Amazing trip! Alps! Beautiful!

Rapid City is cool! Make sure and hit the Badlands if you go! But may still be cold and some snow if you go April. So I would do May there. Either is amazing in relation to nature.

I understand, you could go to the holy lands, not the hoe-ly lands.

Old Saloon 10 is a fun place. I was in there one evening about 10pm & Big & Rich showed up & played music out of the blue for about an hour. People said they drop in there frequently.
During summer months they do recreation of Wild Bill being shot couple times a day

Thanks for all the suggestions. What about Napa/Sonoma wine country? I’ve never been but maybe better in the Fall?

I was there during Super Bowl 50 and we made a day long wine tasting trip. I kept looking for one of those kegs to be filled with beer,,, no luck. If you are a wine connoisseur it might be great but I wouldn’t repeat since I really don’t care for the wine. Also nothing was green or in bloom when I was there. Now as far as San Francisco, quite the party town but then again during Super Bowl week. Oh sweet memories

San Francisco is my 2nd favorite American city to visit. Night life, restaurants, shops, vibe is great 👍

Biking over the Golden Gate Bridge going towards Sausalito was pretty memorable. Weather was perfect too.

I have been to SF a couple of times for work and it was pretty cool but haven’t ventured north. I will keep it on the list for sure. Also love San Diego.

I lived in the SF Bay Area in my 20’s. I agree, it’s gorgeous there.

But I would still much prefer a tropical overwater bungalow.

Over water bungalow would be cool unless a tropical storm or worse a tsunami came along.

Ha! True. Wonder how often they have to rebuild those little huts?

Not sure but for what they charge for them they can afford to do it pretty often...
