LOL "The fact of the matter?" No. Pure speculation to say that he would have lasted another 32 picks. You're so tied into your "I didn't want them to draft him" that you want him to be bad.

QB hungry teams passed on him before the Steelers. No team after the Steelers needed a QB. That’s a fact. They could have grabbed him in the second round. That’s a fact. Cya.

... Or even waited 'til the THIRD round.
Not sure that the Steelers had a pressing "Need" for a QB.

They had Trubisky - and as I surely stated already
- maybe he leads the lads INTO the play-offs IF the
QB job isn't taken from him and handed to a woefully
unprepared Pickett.

just sayin'

I don't agree with Bambino and Salty on too much, but I have to agree here. Every team who needed a QB in that draft had already taken a QB before the Steelers had their 1st pick. KP would have definitely been there for them in the 2nd round. Maybe even the 3rd.

... But IF our views are correct - then 1pittsburgh also
has a small point that's what's done is done.
Whether they choose Pickett in the first round or even
second or third - THAT was the fellow they surely fancy.

Maybe Pickett turns out to be decent enough to be the starter.
If so, then good for him... I'd prolly rather see Mitch play
- but Pickett looked fairly adept the second 'alf against the Rams.

It's beyond time for him to look "adept". He's a 1st round pick with 20 or so starts under his belt. NOW's the time for him to be winning consistently. Not 2 or 3 years from now. Now.

The Steelers have been winning since KP was inserted as starter. He just hasn’t looked that good except for late game heroics. He needs to stringing full games together. Then I’ll pop some Dom. With my [friends]

-If the player you want is there when it comes to your pick, you take the player. Most agree with this
-Most have no idea if Pickett would have lasted until the end of round one let alone two or three.
Someone may have traded up to get him

The teams drafting behind the Steelers were pretty much set at QB. Besides, people who get paid to evaluate QBs didn’t feel any of the QBs were worth a first round pick in that class. That worked out to be true except Pickett. Maybe the Steelers would have had to move up in the second to get him. It’s safe to say if the Steelers didn’t draft him in the first round, he would have dropped to the second.

Nobody knows for sure what would have happened if we didn’t draft Kenny. I didn’t hate the pick because in Mitch we knew we had average.
But one thing, if Kenny is also average then cut bait after next year. QB is so important you have to take your chances. The greats weren’t all top draft picks.
Another thing is Canada and QB coaching.

They drafted Pickett at 20. Their next pick was at 52. 32 more picks would have had to pass on him. It's simply pure speculation to say that they could have drafted him at 52. They also drafted Pickens at 52 and there's no guarantee that George would have lasted until their next pick at 84. It will prove to be two very good picks.

18. His stats have been better than those of Josh Allen and Trevor Lawrence in their fist 18 starts.

Kenny's winning percentage with the Steelers is twice as good as Mitch's. This ain't Australian rules football.

I got paid for a year to play football. Did you? But there are several people in this thread that agree with me and not you. But they’re not my friends
