i hear you tbone. if you want to say USA is unpatriotic, fine. if you want to say he's wrong on substance, fine. but it isn't fine imo to call in to question his service when the evidence suggests he is exactly what he claims to be, although he could be correctly described as disillusioned with his military service; 2/3 of those who served in Vietnam could also be described as disillusioned with their military service. if i had served in Iraq under Bush, you would also be able to describe me as disillusioned with my military service. i have not served, but i do respect those who do. and if you disagree with USA on everything, i get that too. but the fact remains he put his life on the line in service of our great country, and that counts for something imo.

Haha thanks PX. I'm actually a NCO, not an officer and yes, I did deploy to Afghanistan first then Iraq. I've deployed to other places as well- Horn of Africa, Kosovo, Honduras and did some awesome training in Germany. Now I'm in the final years of service with the National Guard, about to fight the invisible enemy- COVID-19!

On Afghanistan and Iraq- Never did find those WMD's. (What WMD's?) Lol!

if USA spent all his time on here talking about his military service, ya'll would call him a braggard and a showoff. if he doesn't spend enough time talking about his military service, then ya'll call him a fake soldier. and when he calls into question the value of one really stupid war and one war that in retrospect didn't seem to accomplish much, ya'll call him unpatriotic. so he can't win no matter what he says.

i started this thread as a public service. if i can get even one person to think twice before pulling the lever for Trump in November, it will have been worth it for me.

there are 3 reasons i chose this forum instead of the Political forum:
1. i can reach more people
2. i may actually have a chance of convincing at least 1 person to think twice before pulling the lever for Trump, whereas i'm pretty sure i won't change a single mind no matter what in the Political Forum.
3. the tone of the Political Forum appears to be more of a food fight than a rational discussion, the couple of times i've peeked in there. maybe i just caught it on a bad day.

this thread has brought out some insightful commentary from members who i didn't even know existed, such as hyperinflation, aquastro, and cyberdude.

although Boardman and i usually don't agree with each other, i find his commentary well reasoned and insightful.

fyi i went on sabbatical because i got tired of the constant trolling in Coed; this is the only thread i'm taking part in because as i said i consider it a public service.

obviously it goes without saying that any thread that is of no interest to a member is anything but required reading. and any member who thinks i'm full of shit should just put me on ignore and leave it at that.

i think it worked out great. if just a few more Pubs had stiffened their spines to do right thing like Mitt Romney did, Trump would have been removed from office. what trump did-and i'm sure is still doing today-was far worse than anything that Nixon ever did. inviting a foreign geopolitical adversary to interfere with an American election on his behalf goes beyond the pale. if i was in Robert Mueller's position, i would have indicted the son of a bitch and let the Solicitor General give his bullshit argument before the Supreme Court as to why Trump is above the law. basically trump's argument boiled down to he could shoot someone in cold blood on 5th street in public but couldn't be arrested or indicted because he's the president, a bullshit argument if there ever was one. Robert Mueller is a pussy. Trump is lucky i wasn't the Special Prosecutor cause he'd be in jail right now. (full disclosure-i never did the DA gig. probably should have but just didn't go that route. maybe because i think drugs and prostitution should legalized and i would balk at prosecuting someone for either "offense.")

why is that not surprising?
