But the losers are everyone else who's seen their premiums skyrocket to pay for all these services otherwise not provided. What the Republicans should have done is simply repeal the Affordable Care Act and gone back to everything the way it was. But that would have left the winners under the new system without private coverage. Sorry but that's the way it has to be. We cannot afford to cover everyone. Medical care in America is unique. It's many times more expensive than in any other country. The reason is the way hospitals and doctors perform their jobs. They do many more routine screenings and procedures, they charge much higher fees, devices and drug makers make much more money. Nothing will improve until the doctors and hospitals start doing things the way they do in other countries, which is the way things were in America until the 1970s. That means no more routine screenings. No more regular screenings for this or that. No more visits and prescriptions for colds and the flu. Until the 1980s the only medical insurance was for hospitalization. There was no coverage for routine screenings, doctor's office visits, and outpatient treatments for anything. Nor was their inpatient payments for "drug rehab" and such. It's because of third party payments that people choose to use more services, services they did not used to use when they had to pay for it out of pocket. But in the 1970s it was argued that people were not seeking care when they needed it...and that's what led to the "preventive care" revolution. But adding this additional amount of services quadrupled the amount of services each person was using. Yes this might be of benefit to some, but the cost is too high. We cannot afford it. We just can't afford to cover everyone and provide this level of service.

Prior to Obamacare, the health coverage in this country sucked. Way behind countries of similar wealth. Under either the ACA or the AHCA, there are "winners" and "losers".
Under the ACA, the losers were high income earners who got no tax credits and did not work for companies that supplied them with health coverage. Winners were low income people. Under the AHCA high income earners would be the winners and low income earners the losers. It is estimated by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office that 24 million Americans would lose insurance coverage under the AHCA. Poorer people in their 60s also get screwed under the AHCA.
The AHCA lost because it is worse than the ACA. At least the ACA helps people who need help. Certainly the ACA is far from perfect and needs adjustments. But to simply say it doesn't work and we should return to the days prior to the ACA is lunacy.

Compassion has nothing to do with it. The ACA is unaffordable. More and more insurance carriers are leaving, and those who are still in are increasing their premiums to cover the increased costs of all the new people flooding their system with pre-existing and cronic conditions which the providers are treating differently than they treat their Medicare and Medicaid patients.
Medicaid and Medicare patients are treated with affordable treatments while the patients with private coverage get a different array of more expensive therapies.
This is the problem. The problem is controlling costs when the providers have incentives to sell more and more expensive procedures to those covered by private carriers.

I agree that the AHCA was a bad plan. It was designed by Paul Ryan, who makes no secret that his personal agenda is to roll back the Great Society and the New Deal. Ryan wants to eliminate Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare altogether. Ryan is NOT a Trump supporter, and Trump made a terrible mistake by trying to get along with him, but the House voted with only one dissenting vote among Republicans to make Ryan the Speaker. Trump is at odds with the Republicans in the Congress just as he battled all other sixteen Republican candidates for the Presidential nomination.
Trump doesn't have the power to introduce his own Healthcare Reform bill in the Congress. Ryan and the other Republicans would never go along with it. In fact they're opposed to 90 percent of all the things he wants to do. They still want open borders, un-regulated trade, and all the things we Trumpsters fought for in the election.
Now Trump and his team in the White House will have to settle in for a titanic battle with their own party leadership, which they've been trying to avoid.
But the only alternative is to just scrap the ACA. That will throw millions off private coverage but there is no alternative. In a couple of years Obamacare will implode due to costs.

Republicans have bitched about the ACA for 7 years. For those 7 years Republicans have had the opportunity to come up with a better plan than the ACA. And the best they could do was the AHCA???? Trump is the POTUS. HE passed the baton to Paul Ryan on the AHCA and it is HE who is to be held accountable for the failure of the AHCA to even get voted on.
If Trump is, as you say, at odds with the Republicans in Congress, it will be a LONG 4 years. Washington politics is NOT the business world. The POTUS is just 1/3 of the U.S. branches of government. Trump is taking a course called Politics 101 and is learning that where he could dictate policy in the business world, he will be unable to do that in the political world.
Scrap the ACA??? Probably won't happen.

Trumps at odds with the GOP? Really? And his team are going to settle in for a battle? Trumps HHS secretary was the go to guy in the party on health care during those years of running on repeal/replace. And his OMD guy was in the Freedom Caucus before getting that job. And Pence was a figure in the party before becoming VP. His people are part of the party and yet you are saying that they are at odds? Sure.

I agree that merely scrapping the ACA won't happen. It's what most Americans want, but the group which benefits under the ACA will form a block and turn on anyone who messes with their gravy train. That's the way all programs are once enacted, and I don't just mean transfers programs but all entitlements as well defense contracts and every other issue under the sun.
Once you start the gravy train it's damn impossible to stop because those who benefit form blocks. All it takes is one percent to determine an election.
I don't agree however that Trump is responsible for the divided condition of the party. He doesn't lead the party. It's an unusual situation for a sitting President to not be the leader of the party which nominated him. However it speaks to the crisis which America is experiencing.
Look,
Family income today is only about 53,000 a year, but was almost 58,000 a year ten years ago.
That's a crisis.
The amount of aggregate demand in the economy made up by Federal DEBT alone is now TEN PERCENT OF GDP.
That's a crisis.
And in the mist of this persisting, un-relenting economic crisis people like you want for every American to have spent on them three times what the governments of Japan, Germany, or anyone else spends on their citizen's health care because you want them to be covered by private carriers.
The ACA was written by the insurance companies. It was made to benefit them. If you want basic coverage like the Germans and French and Japanese have then extend Medicaid and Medicare to those who can't afford private insurance.
But for God's sake don't do what the ACA does and give a blank check to the insurance companies, the doctors and hospitals so they can charge whatever they like and pass the costs along to everyone else.
We can't afford to be doing even half of what we're doing now, and the ACA is yet another nail in the coffin of what was the American economy. The Bush drug benefit plan was written by the pharma companies and look at the colossal whole it made in the budget. And then Obamacare came along.
If these problems are not solved when the Federal side reaches an eventual borrowing limit you can kiss your ass goodbye.
There will be twenty million new girls looking for escorting work because they can't find any other jobs, but you won't have any money to spend on them and neither will I.

And now here's the worst part!
The stupid New York Federal Reserve under Yellen has announced that they intend to increase interest rates several times in the next two years.
What the fuck!
She says it's because unemployment claims are way down.
UNEMPLOYMENT CLAIMS????????
What the fuck about DEMAND. DEMAND BITCH!
Per capita demand is LOWER NOW THAN IT'S BEEN SINCE 1963!!!!
What difference does it make if unemployment is down when everyone now has ten thousand dollars a year less to spend!!!
And because wages are so low tax revenues are way down, so to keep the economy from sinking even further the Federal government has to borrow half of it's budget and then throw that money into the economy as stimulus because the people don't have enough money to purchase anything.
It's a cluster fuck.
And the Fed is going to retract credit and raise rates to slow down what little private sector spending we still have, and here's the great part....
IT WILL INCREASE THE AMOUNT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WILL PAY THE FEDERAL RESERVE IN INTEREST RATES ON ALL THE MONEY IT NOW BORROWS BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE WILL BUY ALL THIS FEDERAL DEBT SO THE FEDERAL RESERVE HAS TO BUY IT ALL.
So the amount the Federal government will pay in interest on this titanic debt will increase!!!
And that will speed up the eventual limit on how much the Federal government can borrow, and take us even closer to our upcoming total collapse.
Kiss your asses goodbye.
Oh but in the mean time every American can have unlimited rectal exams to screen for polups and cancer because they will have great private health insurance.
THANK YOU!!

Again I didn't see you criticizing the budget that just came out. Which was horrible. Now you want to talk about good budgeting and raising interest rates? Please just stop. How about 999 million for 62 miles of boarder wall? Kiss our asses goodbye on that. If you want to be fair and criticize raising interest rates, talk about the increases in taxes to pay for stupid stuff like 1 billion dollars for 62 miles of wall. Or how about getting rid of meals on wheels and continuing to pay for Melanie to have separation from her husband. Or how about us paying for secret service protection for millionaires to travel and make more money for themselves overseas. How about we shouldn't pay for them to travel and make money overseas. If you don't want to talk about that stuff then you aren't really caring about anything but propping up Trump.

It still amazes me that we will debate back and forth about X policy but we refuse to discuss and are more than willing to dismiss the 100 fold increase in contrails across the globe.

Family median income was $57,357 in 2007. Went down to $52,605 in 2012 and has been rising since then. Up to $56,516 in 2015. What happened in 2008? We had the worst recession since the Great Depression. It has taken a long time to climb out of the hole but it is happening. Median income up to within $1,000 of 2007 level. Poverty down in the U.S. More than 90% covered by health insurance.
I know Trump thinks he inherited an economic mess from Obama, but compared to what Obama inherited from Bush, Trump is sitting pretty.

The ball is in Trump's court. Obviously he and his team can't get their act together and propose a better health care solution than the ACA. I don't disagree with you. The ACA MAY destroy this country. Let's get a better solution to the health care problem.

Whoa buddy - Meals on Wheels isn't getting cut. This shit drives me nuts. That is a blatant lie. Google it and educate yourself. And what about Trump donating his salary to a charity? ughhhhhhhhhh.

The budget proposed by OMB presents a cut to Community Development Block Grants. That's Meals on Wheels is under. The only way it's not cut or lowered is if Congress pushes back on it. It's not a blatant lie. Sure some others can spin it as well it's not Meals on Wheels its a grant being cut so not necessary that program. Sure ok. Wink wink. But if you want to start on educating about the budget cuts I can tell you other things it cuts that could be funded by people paying for their own security overseas. 1000 of JOBS JOBS JOBS JOBS are cut from the EPA. It gets rid of LIHEAP, which means people who can't afford heat will be in the freezing cold. Eliminates the Minority Business Development Agency, hey blacks, what do you have to lose? Cutting federal work/study programs and grants needed for low income students. Those poor, you should have a rich dad to pay for school or take out high interest loans so that those companies can make more money. Oh the best part, you know how those Trump voters hated the out of touch coastal elite who don't visit small town Merica? This budget takes away from rural airports. They will truly be fly-over states now. That's just a few of the programs you should educate yourself on how this budget works.
As for this whole donating his salary to charity. He hasn't yet, said we will have to wait until the end of the year. Why wait, he's rich and the salary is known. Donate it now and get it over with. But even then I don't care about that. I've said it before on here, he can keep his salary for this year and the next 3 if he says a legally binding agreement that he won't take a penny of the money his company makes during his time in office. Otherwise the salary he makes is pennies compared to what he can gain from just being president. Like say going his resorts weekly. Don't you think that gives people a reason to actually pay the higher prices to be a member. Just to say they saw, meet, or ate with the president? This whole donating his salary thing is laughable. It's like the CEO of the company saying they will only earn $1 in salary for the year. Oh but I own a majority share in stock so yeah that $1 is so low but look I made 120 million from stock options. Yeah so noble to take $1. You should the world what a true leader does for the company. Stop it. The money his company is going to make from his position is so much he's not thinking of the salary. Because if you believe him (like most of his supporters) to be a great businessman... No business man worth his salt would give up earned money without something more on the backend. Uggghhh let's not pretend he's not making money during this time. He's donating his salary at the end of the year, maybe. Great. Doesn't mean anything.

The point is - it doesn't effect Meals on Wheels - talk to some one from there - I have.
As far as the President's salary being donated - he asked the pool of reporters to submit charities that they thought may be worth while. You mislead people.

As far as the President's salary being donated - he asked the pool of reporters to submit charities that they thought may be worth while. You mislead people.

No maam;
Trump is the one that has misled America. His blatant lies and stepping back from his promises are his hallmark. But it'll all be better soon.. ahhhhhhh
