Thanks to American ingenuity, last week the entire country had results of over 550,000 tests, with about 90,000 positives. This is among people presenting and who met the criteria with obvious symptoms. No one doubts a significantly higher number of people have the disease without symptoms - another million tests over the next two weeks should tell us much more.
We need a few more days of significant data to say for certain.
Most of those actually dying are old and have other unhealthy conditions.

Yes I posted regarding Cuomo's "rethink" a couple days ago.

"social distancing" as a preventative to acquiring the Wuhan corona virus is clearly adversely affected by increasing population density - where the out of "home" trips one must take to maintain survival - or contact with people who do that for One - are inevitably in contact with many people - it is unavoidable. We still get mail, go to the grocery store, and in Ny -take taxis, or receive deliveries. Human contact is unavoidable - and transmission more frequent in high population density areas like NY.

Stay at home orders orders have been in affect in most major areas for 3-10 days.
For example, NY imposed them on March 22nd at 8 pm. NJ on March 21st. Louisiana March 23rd. California March 19th. Illinois Marh 21st. Texas from 3 to 6 days depending on the county. It takes 1-14 days for the coronavirus symptoms to show up.
"The “incubation period” means the time between catching the virus and beginning to have symptoms of the disease. Most estimates of the incubation period for COVID-19 range from 1-14 days, most commonly around five days. These estimates will be updated as more data become available."
So let's give it another week or so before reaching any conclusions as to whether or not the spread of the virus has slowed in those areas due to stay at home orders.
You could certainly be correct.

I can't speak for cities like Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio, but people in Austin are definitely following the guidelines.

Fidel - Please stay in your "elite" area - Your obvious and stated supercilious and "elitist" opinion of Texas reveals your egoism and ignorance.
maintain social distancing for a lifetime - do the human gene pool a favor !
Look it up - Matthew McConaughey is a Texan.

I live in Houston and you can't get a test unless a doctor orders one, We live in a backwards state politically. Dan Patrick says that old people should commit suicide for the economy.
If you believe in science by your idiotic standards, you are elite. If you question dumb rednecks you are elite.

A friend of mine from Houston said drive up tents were open in Houston but you got screened first and needed to be symptomatic for the test, but then everyone in the car was tested. Is that true?

In the last 7 days, over 500,000 test results have come in.
In the last 24 hour period, almost 100,000 tests results have come in.
We are some kind of serious testing motherfuckers.
