Let me see if I have this straight. I'm driving on the free section of the NYS Thruway and I forgot to reduce my cruise control to the 55mph speed zone. A "cop" in an unmarked car forces me over. Has a badge on his uniform, tells me to get out of the car (the only words spoken), won't say his name, won't identify what agency he is with, cuffs me, and takes me away.


Is this okay?

In your scenario a normal citizen would be polite and try to wiggle his or her way out of a traffic ticket. If he or she were fresh from participating in a riot, the assumption would be that this is why the handcuffs.

Most people don't like the police, because they're a nuisance.

When left wing terrorists are completely disrupting day to day life and antagonizing an American city, normal people appreciate the presence of the police and oppose the terrorists.

What is different in this case.
