There are two sides to this argument/debate those of faith in God and those who do not have faith in God.
The beauty of it is we will all die one day and at that time the truth will be revealed to us.
If you (atheists) are correct and there is no God then none of it matters as we will be dead no memories, no thoughts no nothing. However if you are wrong and God does exist I sure as hell wont be the one standing before him on judgement day with a telescope in one hand, a petri-dish in the other saying E=MC²
Personally, I can give a rats ass whether or not anyone of you believes in God or believes in science to determine creation.
But I do care that respect is shown for each of one of us. There is no need for name calling or statements of stupidity regardless of ones beliefs when that happens it becomes a personal and that never ends well for anyone.

It was 100 years ago because that's when radiometric dating was discovered. Keep in mind Marie Curie and only discovered radioactive elements (Radium) in 1895. That's only 12 years before Bertram Beltwood discovered radiometric dating in 1907. Scientists before were making the best determination based on the information that had available. The same way we didn't know Mars had running water in it's history until we sent a Rover there.
People used to use X-Rays when trying on shoes to detemine the fit. That wa stopped when we found out that radioactivity can cause cancer. Science isn't religion, if new information can be proven, then it is peer-reviewed and accepted. Religion sticks to ridiculous claims until Science proves them wrong and they have no choice but to accept or pretend that's what they meant all along. The church tried to excommunicate Galileo was saying the Earth revolved around the Sun.

It's sad really, and part of the reason we as a Country are falling behind others in the science arena and education in general.
You can believe what ever you want, but you just cant be ignorant of facts and reality along the way, IMO

When I used to be in IT support, I received tons of trouble tickets for computer issues. One of the most common "issues" was a message on the screen that said, "Press Enter to Continue". Those professional adults couldn't figure out what to do next to save their life. Pressing the Enter key never crossed their mind. The amount of adults who are able to read something written on an elementary grade level but not understand it is mind-boggling.
People with poor reading comprehension skills lack adequate ability to truly understand the many facets of what they are reading. Processing the information presented in the text is hard for them. They also find it difficult to connect new ideas to previously learned facts and they haven’t learned to implement higher order thinking skills so they can analyze and evaluate new knowledge.

Let's take a look at the Bible's description of Heaven.
http://www.thebricktestament.com/rev...p18-19p21.html
Revelation 21:11-12, 14, 18-21
The city formed a square with equal length and width: 1,500 miles, and equal in height. It had great, high walls made of diamond with twelve pearl gates. The city wall had twelve foundation stones. The first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third was agate, the fourth was emerald, the fifth was onyx, the sixth was chrysolite, the seventh was carnelian, the eighth was beryl, the ninth was topaz, the tenth was chrysoprase, the eleventh was jacinth, and the twelvth was amethyst.
Revelation 21:18, 22:1-2
The city itself is pure gold. The angel showed me the river of the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the main street of the city. On either side of the river is the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, producing its fruit year-round.
Revelation 21:24
The kings of the earth will bring the grandeur and the wealth of the nations into the city.
Revelation 22:3, 21:3
The throne of God and the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will see his face, and he will live among them.
Revelation 21:4, 22:5, 14
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more nighttime. And death, mourning, crying, and pain will not exist any more. Blessed are those who can enter into the city by the gates!
Revelation 22:4
His name will be on his servants foreheads, and they will worship him.
Revelation 22:15, 21:8
While outside are the dogs, the magicians, the adulterers, the idol worshipers, and everyone who tells lies. Their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone.
1. Why is bling so important to God. Jesus made it pretty clear that rich people were persona non grata to God, but God himself is living up. Pearly gates and all.
2. City of gold. Personally I think that would be an eyesore. Why not platinum.
3. Most nations don't have kings anymore, and even if they did, why does God need their riches? He lives in a blinged out city of gold. Being God, he should be able to make all the riches he wants.
4. I'm not cool with tats for myself personally, especially on my forehead.
Those burning in hell.
5. I guess God isn't a dog person. If he hated dogs so much he could have...just not made them.
6. Magicians buring in hell. I can live with that. I watched a David Blaine special and it was bullshit. An hour of my life wasted. He does deserve to burn in hell for that.
7. Idol worshippers burning in hell. One of the few that makes sense.
8. Everyone who tells lies. Shit. Looks like all of you are fucked.

I have already told you I can careless if you believe or not. I am not here trying to convince you of shit! That's your business not mine.
But do not come at religion and point out flaws when you are not capable of pointing out the flws in science

Typical childish reply when a facet of science becomes an open sore.
