Good try at a save, but you got Bo Joe on the line over here LOL
Yeah, people killing their pets on a regular bases to make poodle
shish kabobs would be a myth also. Unless it is something they
are doing out of choice and not necessity.
Ughhhh. Not on a regular basis dude. How many pets can 1 family have
exactly ...its so easy to sit in our air conditioned offices in front of our big screen TV'S, and judge a culture we know nothing about...comparing their day to day life with our own.....not withstanding they may gather their water from a dirty creek or stream...and live somewhere that they couldn't sustain a VEGAN lifestyle, due to drought or floods or hostile fields..
...
Then the fuckers should move or perish.
Ole Sam was right
I get the diversity of people groups. Trying to understand their motivations sometimes is impossible.
The thing I don't get is the torture. They claim it somehow enhances the meat but anyone that grew up like I did knows that is bullshit.

Animals produce adrenaline when they are threatened, it's a coping mechanism that prepares the body for a fight or flight response to the threat they are facing. Adrenaline absolutely affects the palatability of the meat. Coming up I learned early on that if you are slaughtering for consumption you always always do your best to keep the animal calm. If it gets spooked you back off a few hours and wait for them to calm down. Hoofstock, fowl, whatever. Most hunters know that a clean kill on a deer affects the meat. Why do you think slaughter houses take such care to keep the animals calm?
I can personally tell you that wild animals hunted with dogs taste different than those taken by means of still hunting. Deer, rabbit, squirrel, coon, hog. I've had them all. I do wonder about fish and reptiles like gator or even frog. I've never taken them by different means and been able to compare. Shellfish too. We boil crabs, lobster and crawfish alive, smoke clams etc. I guess the confidence in my knowledge is limited to mammals and fowl.
What I'm saying here is that I don't believe for a minute that the torture that goes along with the slaughter of those animals somehow enhances the consumption on a platability scale. It is a ritual probably based in something religious that either they won't admit or we wouldn't understand. I personally think it's evil but to each his own.
