Most satisfying part was Cersi ascending the iron throne. Perseverance and badassery in action!
Love how it's going to be all women battling for the crown! Although Sansa got a little left out, sadly, boo.

Yep, Daenerys is his aunt.
As for "rightful" heir or not...Viserys, Rhaegar and Daenerys' brother, was named the rightful heir when Rhaegar died at The Trident. Now that he's dead, it falls to Daenerys. As Rhaegar's son, Jon would have had the same claim as Aegon, before The Mountain crushed his skull against a wall when he was a baby, or Rhaenys, before Amory Lorch stabbed her to death as a girl, and they were both passed over for Viserys.
The Targaryen's have had Queen rulers before, although there was a civil war over it, so there's no reason to think that Daenerys isn't the rightful heir. There hasn't been only paternal rule in their House in the past. All that is irrelevant though. As the Targaryen's have recently wanted to marry brother to sister, or within their own bloodline, with Jon and Daenerys being the only two Targaryens left, it's pretty obvious that they'll marry and rule the Seven Kingdoms...

My bet is that Jaime is going to have to put is sister down. It'll be sad and awesome.

Yeah, Viserys was named the heir because Rhaegar and all of his known children were dead. Of course, since Jon is a bastard, he technically wouldn't have any claim to the throne anyways, otherwise Gendry would be the real heir to the Iron Throne.
But, as you said, Targaryens tend to marry within their families, so Jon and Daenerys will obviously hook up, as you said.

Wait wait wait, what of the squire to Brianne? Isn't he the bastard son of Robert Baratheon? Doesn't he have a claim as well to the Iron Throne? I might have characters confused.
Sorry gents, I'm new to GOT. I watched the entire series in one month! Could not stop watching. It was episode after episode and I'm truly hooked. Been researching stuff as well.

I think Wakeup is right on track with the Jon Snow and Daenerys thing. The only thing that makes me wonder about that is how the author likes to do different things other than what the reader/viewer expects. This is going to be a topic of discussion until the next season and a lot of people are going to follow that path that has been laid out. That gives me pause, as he likes to upset the apple cart.
Would like to have seen the Red Woman skewered on the sword of the Onion Knight....................oh well, I guess her job is not done yet.

I think you may be getting these two characters confused as one.

Welcome to the club, pal.....and for the record, we're ALL hooked!
Now it's back to 40+ weeks of having to wait once again (for Season 7 to begin). After these last two episodes I feel the decompression will be difficult....what the hell do I have to look forward to on Sunday nights now???.

The author isn't in charge of the story arcs anymore, because the show has outpaced the books. Out of this season, the only things that were in the books were Arya's training with the Faceless and the whole Lyanna flashback thing and the promise to Ned. The rest was fabricated from the shows writers. The books that GRRM are writing will bear only tacit resemblance to what you're seeing in the shows now.

Technically we do not know if Jon is a bastard. Tragaryens are known to take multiple wife's. Now the question is did they get married and how. If it was to the old Gods Bran will be able to see it happen and maybe see who witness it too.

I was under the understanding that George R. R. Martin was still very involved, even writing at least one episode a year, and determining how the series will end. If that is so, I hope he and the writing team realizes that they should continue to dance with what brought them, and don't go the path of previous shows and pander to what the audience thinks it wants.

He was but because he hasn't finish winds of winter he had to stop. It takes too much of his time to write an episode and he want to devote that time into finishing the book. This was the first season he didn't write an episode for the series.

I'm sure the ending of the series will coincide with his thoughts. The rest, it's Weiss and Benihoff. I'm real interests to see how the books differ from the shows going forward, or if he basically writes some stuff from the shows into his books so the readers won't be disappointed.
It's very strange. We all bitched when the show was diverting in major ways from the books in earlier seasons. Now we'll be bitching at the books for diverting in major ways from the shows.

Cersei has got them right where she wants them.
I really only care about The Hound and how he fits in. Jon and Danny on the Iron Throne seem too "conventional" for the series.

Benioff recently announced it'll be 13 more episodes; split into two seasons as you noted: Season 7 will be 7 episodes while Season 8 will unfold the (dare I say it?) final 6 episodes.
I guess they plan to push those final six all the way out to Spring 2018, right?
That said, is there any chance of a Spring '17 (Season 7) culminating with a Fall (or Winter) '17, Series Finale (Season 8), release schedule?

Sandor + Jaime will fight Gregor.
There's a vision that Bran has in one of the books about it:
"There were shadows all around them. One shadow was dark as ash, with the terrible face of a hound. Another was armored like the sun, golden and beautiful. Over them both loomed a giant in armor made of stone, but when he opened his visor, there was nothing inside but darkness and thick black blood."
