since lookn4boobies is having some issues with reading comprehension, i have decided to assign him some extra homework. this also goes for anyone else who doesn't "get it."
1. go back to pg 2 or so and stare at the pics spice posted there. then stare at them some more.
2. skip all the comments and read Chapter 1.
3. skip all the comments and read Chapter 2.
4. skip all the comments and read Chapter 3.
5. skip all the comments and read The Final Chapter.
6. repeat step 1 (above) only
7. come back and vote on this thread, yes or no, as to whether i should write how the story ends. as of this writing the count stands:
yes: 1 vote
no: 0 votes
-if you vote no, please write the No the way you would write it if you were writing a review on the worst hobby experience you've ever had. something to the effect of "Hell Fucking No!" or words to the same effect. i can't stand these passive aggressive no's like "px is such a moron." that doesn't tell me anything, since we've already established that beyond a reasonable doubt. fuck a preponderance of the evidence. (sorry inside joke for civil barrister out there.)
tomorrow night
, i'm going to tally the yesses and nos and decide whether to write how the story ends based on the votes.
then i walk. for 6 months. self-imposed ban. cause thats how i roll. only way i come back before then is if i get in another
lol. if that happens, you get to hear another epic adventure of px. because i think everything is droll, especially
.
now if i can just avoid getting banned before i write the ending, we're all good.
in 6 months, i will write the missing chapters, plus the epilogue. stay tuned....and...
see ya in lake charles!

Gotta correct you on one thing, Spice. Roulette is not a game with a low house edge... at least, not on the same level as blackjack and craps. Baccarat is similar, but roulette is a sucker's game. The 0 and 00 put the house at significantly above the edge of the other three. Played correctly, blackjack, baccarat, and craps all have well under 2% house edge. Roulette has a 2.7% house edge if only a 0, and 5.26% edge if there's a 00. Still better than the carnival table games (Let-It-Ride, Mississippi Stud, etc.), and of course way better than slots, which I can't believe people hate money so much they feed it to slot machines. SMH.

And pxmcc, there is one game in the house (sometimes) that has positive expected value. Video poker. Certain pay tables on certain games have up to something like 100.76% expected value, IF played perfectly, averaged out ad infinitum. Very few people actually manage to make a living at it, but it does happen.

damn Caroline i'm impressed! yes my understanding is roulette with the 2 greens has about a 5% house edge, same as a field bet on craps. (i call the field bet a slow bleed.) after my epic fail on roulette, i've never played roulette again except to goof off. it's a sucker's game IMO and unwinnable over the long term.
on dice, downtown Vegas casinos offer 10x odds, and lake charles' casinos offer 20x odds. the casino royale on the strip offers 100x odds. (it sounds great, but i played there and never got comfortable on their tables. last thing you want to do is go 100x odds when you can't shoot for shit. lol.) all the other strip casinos offer 3,4,5x odds. (for newbies, odds bets are multiples of your flat bets and have 0 house advantage.) at 20x odds, the house advantage, if i recall correctly, is less than .1%. (no that's not a typo. see wizard of odds. guy is a genius.)
the best flat bet on the table is called the don't bet, which has a 1.4% house advantage. many players take odds on don't bets, but i see it as risking a lot to win a little. (example: on the 4 and 10, it costs 2$ to win 1$.) i have had the dice when i saw a big don't bettor betting against me with full odds when i was shooting well. if i like the guy, i will tell him i'm going to sink his don't bets and he should at least pull his odds. if the guy is an ass, i will make it my personal mission to sink every one of his don't bets with all his odds. there is no better feeling than destroying the bankroll of a butthead who is betting against you and has an attitude.
dice is a strange game because energy/chi/karma are so important. i know that sounds crazy, but i am absolutely convinced based on what i've seen. i try to align all the energy of the table in one direction, preferably in the direction that the dice are falling. i have found it hard to shoot opposite to what strong personalities on the table are rooting for. once i even asked 3 don't bettors to switch to the do's (pass line) bets to align the energy at the table when i was shooting. i went on to roll for like an hour n everyone cleaned up on my roll.
because of the high cost of don't bet odds, and the chance that a seemingly "poor" shooter may actually be a "great" shooter, i almost never take them.

No real hostility intended, but I hate people like you at the table. Why are you worried about telling other people how/where to bet their money? Screw your chi... don't be that guy that tries to dictate where I place my own damn money.
But, even though I know the math says otherwise, I do the same thing when I bet the don't pass. I don't place odds, just the flat bet.
The El Dorado in Shreveport lets you place 100x odds, just FYI.

Right you are madam! Also, it's fucking sexy that you know this, somehow I'm not surprised though
That's why I said certain games are close enough to 50% for gamblers FLAWED purposes. I was pointing out that you can get fairly close to a coin flip in blackjack, roulette, and craps. But yes you're right, of the three of them Roulette (especially the double zero variety) is the worst of them. Gamblers assume close enough is good enough (it isn't) for the math to work still (it doesn't) and then they underestimate what "in the long run" means and also don't grasp the nature of "streaks" and the odds of them.
The broader point was that the probability math behind the Martingale betting system only works (over the extreme long run) in a "fair game" with 50% chance of win. He was placing bets all over the board in craps which fall so far outside that range that what he was doing was simply a progressive betting system guaranteed to fail even over the "long run" unless he hit a streak at precisely the right time.
It's why these days I stick to No-Limit Texas Hold'Em where knowledge of odds gives you an edge over those without and you can play against the player not the house. If I play table games it's just the, as you hilariously put it, "carnival games" like Let-it-Ride and Three Card Poker for a bit of fun.
Can you please talk more about EV and odds? Thanks...it turns me on
