You're a good sport Katrina. Needless to say, the win even surprised most of us Cowboy fans. Once again, color me impressed. Our football team is like our weather; totally unpredictable.

I made these predictions on Labor Day Weekend (prior to the opener vs San Fran); see post below.
It appears I had this team figured all wrong....those August pre-season games meant zippo and that's what I was basing my 2014 projections on.
They've demonstrated in a span of the first half-dozen games they can block....they can run the ball (DeMarco on mark for an MVP season thus far)....and evidently they can play defense. Very well in fact, too. If they tidy up a few special teams issues (almost gave the game away yesterday due to some miscues) this Cowboys' team looks as solid in all areas of the game as any of the top teams in the league today.
They aren't going to finish 5-11 or 6-10 as many (myself included) predicted. With the next 3 being played at home (Giants, Skins and Cards) they could be 7-2 or 8-1 before flying off to London for a game with the Jacksonville Jags. Then a very timely BYE on Nov 16th.
It's a little difficult to project what this Cowboys team is going to eventually become by the time December rolls around.....because what they are today is something we've not seen around here for almost 20 years. It's way too easy (and too soon) to start using the P word after a handful of games. Lots of football remains prior to that final game on the schedule in Washington (Dec 28th) so it's best we hold off and simply enjoy the journey. Baring injuries, we could be in for quite a treat.

6-10
To go 9-7 or better, Romo and offense would need to score 40 points or more vs several teams on their 2014 sched. And in some games (ie: last season's contest vs Denver, for example) we're talking mid-to-upper 50's to get a win. And who in the NFL does that on a regular basis?
And....if Romo and / or Dez go down to injury...all bets are off. This team will crater and go 4-12....3-13.
This has the potential to become a total dumpster fire....it's best Mr Jones stock up now on his Johnny Walker Blue. He's gonna need it.

Hmm... so..
should I admit I was wrong, or hold out for an 0-10 finish?

Chung, I was more optimistic; I had them at 6/10. It could still happen, but they seem out to prove everybody wrong. I hope they do.

Let me state I am not a Cowboy fan,but they have been hitting on all cylinders lately. Regular season is one thing, playoffs are the real test, can they get over the hump, time will tell.

And now..... a little Cowboy news OFF THE FIELD....
......perhaps you've already heard back up RB Joseph Randall decided the best way for him to celebrate this huge victory was to go grab himself a Five-Fingered Discount at Dillard's Dept Store in Frisco yesterday. Nice. Real classy, young man. Now here's the $64,000 question: WHY????
You've got a half-million dollar per year contract with the Dallas Cowboys and you feel compelled to go steal cologne and underwear from a local retailer? I'm not rushing to judgement per this story (it's supposedly on tape so apparently it's not a mistake on the part of the store's security) but, let's face it....this is such a boneheaded stunt......and you have to ask: WHY???
Not sure how Garrett / Jones will handle this....maybe no more than a slap on the wrist (run a few extra wind sprints, huh?) but he needs to understand a stunt like this does have consequences. I'm not saying you "cut him" (Jimmy might have in the day) but something will need to be done. The Cowboys are on the cusp of the best season in years and distractions such as this can not....and will not be tolerated.
Look, I know this is not on the level of what Josh Brent did in case someone wanted to revisit that one. But this was just plain stupid. I hope the leaders in the locker room pull this kid to the side and let him know how things are around here these days. Maybe a little college hazing (duct tape him to the goal posts overnight? ) should do the trick.

If they can get to say, 10-2 by Thanksgiving, it's time to talk about home field positioning in the playoffs.
Still a long way to go, though, but things are looking way up.

It's a fairly common affliction. Lot's of famous people, especially movie stars, have been picked up for the same thing. Shoplifting is more of a compulsion than anything else. They are fully aware that it would be easier to buy something.

I also thought they would be mediocre at best. I still haven't bought into them yet but I am enjoying watching Cowboys football again. 2007 and 13-3 sticks in my head. They won a few games that year that they should have lost and what happened in the playoffs? The Giants beat them. They still make too many mistakes but I'll give them credit for not quitting. I will enjoy the journey no matter where ever it may lead them.

It's weird. They make mistakes that if 25 other teams made, they would lose. That's saying that you're pretty good if you think about it. I mean, who wins a game where they trailed 21-0, or win a game where they gave up a blocked punt TD and two fumbles within 20 yards of their own goal line? In these games, they're dominating the game for stretches. They owned the Saints, owned Seattle, and I think if they played San Francisco again they'd kick their teeth in. Romo's back was still jacked up then.
How many teams can say that?
