I agree, I doubt Cassel starts, just way too early after surgery. Brodie is more than an adequate backup QB. If he can just stay upright. I expect a very heavy dose of the running game, even more so than usual, with some screens and play action passes mixed in. With that arm of Brodie, he may be able to hit on some long bombs with play action. Smash mouth football is what the Raiders used to beat the Chargers, and we are more than capable of pulling that off. Chiefs are a young, inexperienced team, so we will see what they are made of on Sunday. Good thing it's not a must win.
Coopers comments was just stupid because he gave the Chiefs bulletin board material.

The Chiefs need to get the running game going. If they do, the Chargers will be biting bigtime on play action. Like the Chiefs did against the Broncs in their first meeting. Orton had all day to to throw.

I dont know the chiefs announced he would be back at practice, according to the Doctor this morning on channel 4 there is no risk to internal injuries because the organ has been removed so there is nothing to rupture. The only healing is the 3 small incisions for the scopes which is said are about 3 or 4 stiches or staples. He went on to say that the only limitation that he would have would be how much pain he is in and that it should be minimal. Rothlesberger has nose surgery for his broken nose and they have already announced he was playing this weekend. Either way I think this is a real chance fror Brodie and I think he is up to the task.

Maybe he will wear flak jacket, wonder if they are allowed. Some used to wear them in the old days when they had rib injuries, they are probably better and lighter these days. I think you're right DD, Croyle has a great arm. He has never had a good O line like this one, or a running game besides a stumbling forward LJ. Would love to see him air it out to McCluster or anyone who can get down the field.

They do have a special pad for the rib cage, Rivers in fact wears one all the time under his jersey. McCluster being back and healthy is going to be a big help too, we could probably see more wildcat-type stuff with him in the mix.

Well I think back to how well Brodie played last year in the season opening in Baltimore, we lost sure but not because of Brodie. This team is much better than that one, if nothing else he could show case some talent and maybe get a shot at starting for another club.

Brodie should do fine with better line protection and some much better playmakers and play callers than when he was with Herm. That being said I would also say run alot of wildcat with Dexter/Jones/Charles and throw in both Berry and Areneas who both played qb in high school, that would be a show to watch you would have no idea who to try and stop!

Either Brodie will have his best game or his worst game I think.. No in-between.... I never really liked him... He has the arm but he also throws some picks.... However the o-line is alot better than it was when he was out there before so he might be better... The run game gets going then we are good... SD will be hungry since they just lost to the raiders......

I think the Chiefs would be crazy to play Cassel. If he were to get hit the wrong way it could put him out for the season. Let him take at least a week to heal.
Should Brodie do well and the Chiefs win this Sunday, it may make sense for Cassel to rest a second week. If we lose then make a decision about when he should/can return.
In my opinion, playing Matt this week is taking a chance that I don't think we need to take!!

He's officially listed as doubtful on the injury report. I'd be shocked if he plays, unless Croyle breaks a leg between now and Sunday.
