Yes they did .....but even those two could not hold a candle to Chole Bancroft. Chloe is the only one I regret not meeting and I mean just meeting. Classy lady, head and shoulders above the crowd and never ever let on as if she knew it.
Spot on post, there is a good M. Gladwell book about smart people and telling the truth and where that gets you. Can't remember which one it was, I believe the second one. A good read as it pertains to your observations.

*very*evil*grin* given that you refer to the personality behind the Elle Wakefield avatar, the spelling "Chole" Bancroft is quite funny for some of us lurkers. [0]
[0] The insider joke is WTF's spelling "Chloe" as "Chole" and the ancient greek meanings of the term "χόλος". (e.g. as in the famous & sexist phrase "Πᾶσα γυνὴ χόλος ἐστίν· ἔχει δ᾿ ἀγαθὰς δύο ὥρας· τὴν μίαν ἐν θαλάμῳ, τὴν μίαν ἐν θανάτῳ.")

ahh, Leah you never cease to entertain me. After all it was you who considered Nineveh "low-life" on the ASPD HDH board.

The early HDHs like Anne Marie and Amy Taylor had more intelligence in one fingernail than those women did. I left the board when they began to dominate, and I heard a lot of complaints from some of the more classy women on this matter too.
I knew something was wrong with ASPD when those PBs were actively trying to recruit for another forum and no one stopped them. FWIW, I think the women who participate here now are head and shoulders above those women.
I doubt you will see it. What made the ASPD so special in the early days was that men and women could be honest, and we were all secure enough to handle it. Back in 2002/2003, there was societal shame in seeing and being an escort, so no one had that big of a head.
Then things got politically correct, and some strove for popularity. Being PC means telling lies to people but especially to women. These are lies that they are supposedly okay because people want to hear them.
Bill Maher calls it making women nod, and his examples are "women are smarter than men", "If women ran the world, there would be no wars", and "pregnant women are sexy." These are things that no/few men believe but because it is easier to make women nod than argue with them, we just go along with it.
For example, with intelligence, average intelligence between the sexes is about the same. However, studies show that men have a wider range so the smartest men are smarter than the smartest women. And the dumbest men are less intelligent than the dumbest women.
This goes along with my personal observations. I have seen women who are smarter than I am, but I haven't seen any in the mind blowing genius range of a few men I know. On the old ASPD board, I would be interested to see if other people have had similar observations and if so, why do they think that is? I could do so without fear of being flamed.
But I wouldn't even broach the subject here. What I would get is a constant haranguing of men falsely accusing me of saying men are smarter than women.
And to me, the most interesting topics are those that are not politically correct and challenge conventional wisdom. It is this alternate POV backed by facts and observations that some find offensive because it gets under their skin and challenges their preconceived notions.
So if even one woman gets offended at a subject, you can expect to see a huge piling on effect by the male WKs looking for a figurative pat on the head. Chances are if you are not running the risk of offending someone, your post is probably pretty boring. With most posts here, I can read the thread theme and/or the person posting and predict with fairly good accuracy what they are going to post before even reading it. And to me, predictability = boring.
When I started the thread, the glory days of the HDH are over, which is by far the most popular thread on this forum, I knew that I was going to be flamed. The first poster even warned me saying something to the effect that the glory days of the HDHs may not be over but yours are. I just didn't care.
That the thread devolved into a discussion of making women nod was sadly predictable. "Sugar babies are not competition to HDHs" and "the top 1% of men have plenty of money to shower on HDHs" were the head nodding equivalents of "women are smarter than men." The surprising part to me was how many people agreed with my premise.
When I was in college, a friend of mine chastised me for telling a woman the truth. He said, "Woody, what you said was exactly right, but you don't tell women the truth if you want to get anywhere with them. You have to tell them what they want to hear."
Now if I were a woman, and I learned that is how men really think of women, I would be offended to no end. How dare a man say women can't handle the truth? While I have noticed some exceptions to the rule, for the most part what my friend said was dead on.

To me, PC is a pale refection of what class used to be. Class reigned in behavior with manners and genuine feelings. PC is the dark stepchild of class and gentlemanly/gentlewomanly conduct. In my opinion, it is the “grandiose vision” rolled out by some omnipresent power that PC people use to separate the unenlightened form themselves. The PC weald political correctness like a scimitar against the foes of goodness that dare to think something that isn’t stripped of all meaning and valor is evil or meaningless. If the emperor has on no clothes, it is ok to say so. You don’t have to be ugly when you say it, but one should be able to say so without fear of reprisal.
Can neither comment on the stupid men or stupid women theory, nor on the “Women only want to hear what they want to hear” syndrome. But, [She leans into him. Strokes his ego – errrr arm and chest. Bats her eyes and says] “Baby you are so strong and, and …………………..”
As to the glory days of ASPD or HDH, that is purely in the eye of the beholder. I tend to post on D&T because it is a much tamer crowd than the local boards. I find the wit and intelligence of the folks that post here, for the most part, refreshing. When it tips into PC-ness or hard-core, bi-partisan politics it can get really rough. A sentient and intelligent crowd can be a rough crowd. I’m cool with that. Sometimes I participate; sometimes I am just entertained.

I wanted to say something similar, but didn't, and you probably said it better anyway. Another variation is the women who insist to men that they only have male friends, because guys are "cooler," "more fun" and "less catty" or "dramatic" than women. I've heard this a lot, and to borrow from Mr. Maher, I'd say it makes men nod. We all like to be flattered, don't we?
I have a hard time believing any study that claims that one sex is "dumber" or "smarter" than the other (are those scientific words, published in the original study?), as I think true intelligence is a hard thing to quantify, and we can't isolate biology from of our cultural values that encourage men to be leaders (exhibiting the mind-blowing genius WoodyBoyd says he's witnessed) and women to be nurturers.
I'm relatively new to this world—both the business itself and the community forums—so I don't know much about ASPD. I posted there only occasionally, and for only a few months, before it shut down. I agree with Leah on the topic that certain sexual acts shouldn't be discussed in a public forum like this, and so I stay out of those conversations.

woodyboyd in general TL;DR. sorry. but this made my day.
While I admit I have no clue who did this studies (yeah, be so kind, entertain us and give proper refs), I can say my own empirical observations have shown me: the smartest women consistently outsmart the smartest men.
However there's a difference: women and men have some very different motivations.
Getting a man to work for you in a semi-legal matter is as easy as giving him some money.
Getting a woman to work for in a semi-legal matter is much more tricky. Sure most women do like money; but even the most greedy woman I've ever met wasn't really fully motivated by money alone.

I can't find the study that Summers was referencing, but here is the speech: http://web.archive.org/web/200801300...2005/nber.html
But the point he was making was a statistical argument for a male skew at the extremes. I'll try to explain it in simple terms. (Just for you. ) IQ's are normalized scores with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15 -- thus someone with an IQ of 145 is 3 standard deviations above average or in the top .13% of the population (assuming a Normal distribution.) The study said that men and women had the same average IQ, but there was move variance in the mens scores so their standard deviation is higher -- for illustration lets assume that it is 16 for men and 14 for women (since the two groups are roughly equal sized, that would preserve the overall 15 standard deviation).
With this difference in IQ standard deviations, there would be .25% of men that had an IQ over 145 and only .07% of women. Thus if you are looking at an applicant pool with a minimum IQ of 145, statistically speaking, it is going to be composed of about 22% women and 78% men.
And since normal scores are symmetrical, one would of course find a similar male skew in a crew of morons.

You seem to take great pride in that thread. "Popular" or most posts doesn't make it the best, most interesting or even on topic, but if you want to put that on your C.V. knock yourself out

Agree with above post. "Popular" is not the same as "controversial." You did get a great deal of response, but many of the replies were constructive criticisms rather than glib comments.
As to this comment:
"When I was in college, a friend of mine chastised me for telling a woman the truth. He said, "Woody, what you said was exactly right, but you don't tell women the truth if you want to get anywhere with them. You have to tell them what they want to hear."
You're not in college now. If you still believe that approach holds then I would say there is your problem...
You are not invested enough in people on an internet forum such as this to want to spend time balancing honesty with tact (and that's generally de rigeur on most parts of the web) but conversely, don't expect people to respond as though you are using that balance...which is what my first post in this thread pertained to. We all lack the same internet investment in people that we have/acquire in our lives away from the net with people, none of are that different in that respect.

I liked her best then she interfered the least in my life. (vice versa is also true, but this is something for her to comment on -- I'm certainly not her spokesperson.)

Some english editions of "Prosper Mérimée: Carmen" have a translation of this famous ancient epigram. (it appears in the 1st chapter)
None of this translations are really good as it's impossible to translate it correctly into english.

I agree with Leah. The guys are bigger assholes and the women providers today are simply not as good as they used to be. Definitely degenerated to me and somewhat regressive. Used to you could actually look in the provider ads on ASPD and find a decent courtesan fairly easily. More and more today you find street trash with 43 piercings and 22 different artworks. Spelling is a lost art as is knowing how to be a lady and a gentleman in the hobby. Even P411 has been overrun with ex-Craigslist providers. You can do better at Walmart on Saturday night. It is getting harder and harder to find quality. I DO NOT miss the Diva Minded psycho bitches.
Exceptions noted.
