Default The Mad Hatter

I wouldn't trade him for any other Coach out there. Like or hate him you have to love the no guts no glory attitude that he coaches with.

What do the rest of y'all think?

I've never been a big Miles fan.... but I have to admit.... he out coached... and the Tigers Rolled over the Tide!!!!

It was a great, well deserved win!!

Fire the offensive coordinator! Please!! He has gotten very stale over the years.

Now there's a thinking man's fan. I love Miles, but if he got rid of Crowton
and replaced him with the equivalent of John Chavis, his defensive coordinator: you know, a high caliber offensive mind who knew how to call plays and develop quarterbacks, the Tigers would be dynasty material!

It might just be me, but I think the receivers need a serious upgrade in talent. It seems like every game a receiver drops the ball on what would have been a big play or 3rd down conversion

ok, I'll bite. how did you figure out bodilly was refering to LSU coach Miles not some other old coaches??

there weren't any reference to coach miles that one could make sense of, other than an odd reference to a character of alice in wonderland, "mad hatter".

Miles is a good coach right now, but not a great coach. He has the potential to become a great coach if he would become a more focused and hands on coach. The down falls of LSU are due to poor coaching. Too many penalties, too much confusion concerning offensive plays at critical times, and poor clock management. In comparisson take a coach like Sean Payton, on the sidelines you can tell he is focused on the game at all times, and is constantly envolved in the play making decisions. You see very few mental coaching errors on Paytons end, and when he does make a error in judgement he is the first to say so.

It was great to see LSU beat Alabama and for Miles to tie the won/loss record versus Saban, but I still do not think we have seen the end of the sideline mishaps and confusion.

I'm torn at times.

Pros - He's got a great track record and tends to do a lot of unconventional stuff that works out.

Cons - The offensive performance has been spotty ever since Flynn left for the NFL and Perriloux got tossed over team rules violations.

In particular, the QBs have trouble reading defenses and calling plays in short order, the latter of which is particularly evident when doing a 2-minute drill such as against Ole Miss or Penn State last season or Tennessee this season.

I was about ready to see him canned after both the Ole Miss game and the Tennessee game, but have calmed down a bit for now.

The big issues, long-term, have to be either dumbing down the offense enough for Jefferson to make his reads and/or getting a stud QB from this upcoming recruiting class that can come in and learn the offensive system.

OK my two cents. Jefferson is the type of QB Crowton likes but he does not have the smarts like (Matt Mauck or Matt Flyn) can't see the checks he needs to see and remember the playbook. Lee has the arm and but not the mobility and he seems to not know the playbook. Crowton has a extensive playbook, the forth down play with Peterson the TE, that was a Crowton play thats his offense. But getting the guys to know the checks and plays is the problem so they coach around that. The recievers need to make the catches no doubt about that its a problem. Full back we need a full back if you want to run the option you need one that can run and block. They have not recruited one and don't know why. Want to run out the I formation you need a full back that can block and they don't , so you coach around that.
Miles has a great record and has done a great job with decipline and recruiting. He is a stand up guy, but my opinion he is to family oriented with the coaches and needs to put more time in, which is what they did for Alabama.
Defense can't say much about that great job, but i think Miles was micro-managing the defense for Aurburn. He needs to stya out of that.
All in All he is the coach and i will back him 100% unless one of those nay sayers has the 15 million to buy him out then they can call the shots.
