Providers: When the Time Comes, Will You Say Goodbye?
Providers, when the time comes and you decide to leave this hobby for something else, will you say anything to any of your clients? Perhaps a retirement post on the board or maybe only a short email to your favorite clients? Or, just shut down your websites and email and phone and walk away without looking back? An ATF of mine seems to have recently left without a word and I was just wondering what others would do and why.

I know who you speak of Shackleton and that is a shame. I'm sure she will be back in touch with one of us sometime. Remember she was another name in another city, left there and went UTR then popped up here. I just think you prematurely jumped the gun! Haha!

Shack...
Sadly, Many will say goodbye.. Over and Over again... and don't forget the "See Me Before I'm Gone" Ads.. And the ever popular "Fuck You I'm out of Here" ThreAd's Followed by the " I'm Back, I Missed All You Wonderful Guys" Ads..
My All time Fave.. The " I'm Retiring " Ad.. That goes on every week for 9 months

She wasn't even a Verified Provider here, never had an ad - just P411. She started one thread, I think.
So probably none of that will happen, DFWRaven. She will quietly reappear.

I like retirement threads.
I think there should be a rule that if you don't actually retire, your signature line must include a link to your retirement announcement. (all of them, not just the most recent)

On the one hand, there are several people that I'd like to say goodbye to when the time comes (both clients and not).
BUT-- I'd rather just walk away-- primarily because of all the BS that comes with posting a "farewell thread"

I would quietly let my friends know that I was calling it quits. I feel that I owe that to them. Trust is important in this hobby and I feel like my guys are my friends as well as clients and I would never just walk away from a friend without letting them know why. There are some that I would always remain friends with and you know who you are. This may be a hobby, but I have met some of the greatest people in my life here. As far as posting a "farewell" thread, probably wouldn't do it.

"A shame?" Not sure. I think I would have liked a goodbye since I saw her somewhat regularly for a while and genuinely like her and I'm frankly curious by nature, but I really don't think she owed me a goodbye or any explanation whatsoever--I didn't see her that often and we didn't do things outside P4P. Also, I have no idea what motivated her to quit and who knows what her particular circumstances are. I wouldn't be surprised if she pops back up again and wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't. But, I really don't want to make this thread about me or any particular provider. More looking for some insight into the thought process of those leaving the business or of clients whose ATFs have left the business. Obviously, it will vary from one escort to another and their particular circumstances, but thought it might make an interesting discussion.

Actually, I'd rather get the email 3 or 4 years later telling me how they successfully transitioned to civilian life. That's happened on a few occasions, and it was gratifying to see some folks do make it out of here alive.

Could have not said it better myself. Privately contact the ones who you want to say goodbye to and exit quietly. A retirement thread usually means I will be back at some point just not sure when so watch for my return. Or it can be a marketing scheme as Raven pointed out.

I 100 % agree with you and wonder if we could start a thread on it and even and even add a poll. If there was enough support, maybe we could have the rule added. There could be an official forum just for "our retirees".
Someone very close to me said maybe we call it, "The Hobby Porch".
