I'm content to let the experts handle it not because they are perfect, but because
1) I have no particular expertise in this area; and
2) a) it doesn't sound like a very interesting field to learn nor
b) one that amateurs would likely make good contributions too because of it's complexity.
No system is perfect, nor will any system every be perfect. But the system we have now is plenty good enough and probably better than cost benefit analysis justifies.
