See that is where the law is misleading. Most people think no problem they are turning a felony into a misdemeanor. The catch is only on the first offense. The kicker comes when the second or subsequent arrest is still treated like a felony, and on top of that you have to register as a sex offender. Registering as a sex offender is where the heavy is . There are plenty of ladies out there right now that already have their first offense on the books, so another arrest is a felony just like the first, and on top of that now they are a sex offender, and that is some heavy shit to deal with and it is all about money. The monitoring device you have to wear you pay like $235/month to wear it, and then you have to pay another $35 a month to a parol officer in what ever jurisdiction you live in that is responsible for tracking where you have been, like I said earlier a offender can not go around a school, park, day care etc. then you have to stay registered for 15 years, so its not a short term deal.

I work with a guy that stopped to take a piss on the side of the road and a sheriff deputy passed. He was cited with indecent exposure, now there are 2 different catagories of indecent exposure one is sexual, and one is simple public nudity but each has a different code number. The cop when writing the citation put the code for sexual instead of simple public, not knowing the difference he pleaded guilty figuring he did it, got caught, and just wanted to pay the fine and get it over with. He paid the fine thinking it was over, and 2 days later was contacted by the sheriffs office about coming in to register as a sex offender. Obviously he was outraged when he found out the cop wrote the wrong code down and he pleaded guilty to a more serious offense. His only option was to hire a attorney and file a motion for judicial review which he did, and eventually a judge ruled to correct the citation, but the guy still had to register as a sex offender for 8 months until it was cleared up, and he is the one that told me all the hell you have to go through.

UNDER THE RADAR......The biggest hit in the law is having to register as a sex offender, that is some major shit, and now offenders have to ware a ankle monitoring device that goes off if you drive to close to a school, day care, play ground etc. I know alot of apartment complex that registering as a sex offender automatically voids your lease, and you have 48 hours to move out, because as a sex offender you have to post a sign in front of your residence, and that would be a major kill to a apartment being able to fill vacancies.

Hi,

You feel the same way I do! That is just to much! Why would your community vote to have that type of punishment for a prostitution case? Reminds me of the scarlet letter era ....I guess soon they will make us all wear a scarlet "P" on our clothes! ahehehe...

Sincerely,
Wet

Sounds like someone's SO won't give up the goods, so they want to punish they rest of us for it. Not our fault. The only crime against nature I see, is raping small children and having sex with animals... sick freaks. I can promise you all, I have NEVER made love to a goat or a small child. What's wrong with these people?!

Just another dumb reason to add on to the already high list of why alot of us ladies are no longer newbie friendly. It's sucks having to punish you wonderful gentlemen, but it's become absolutely nessassary.

crime against nature law is a very old law. it was passed in 1805. its been on the books ever since.

FYI, the article was written in 2008 and the quote in the 1st paragraph was not in the newspaper, that appeared in the cfcamerica.org link.

There's a simple way to avoid getting caught for "crimes against nature." You ladies should be smart enough to understand that no hobbyist outright asks if he's going to get a bj, until every stitch of clothing is off... and even then if you're still uncomfortable, the simple answer to that question is, "Let's not ruin the mood with talking about what we're going to do," or leave. If you're busted, they've only got you on solicitation.

The law is misleading. When they were pushing this through, I believe I only heard that they were changing that "crimes against nature" to a misdemeanor, which was comforting to hear. But, only on first offense?

I agree that the real kicker is registering as a sex offender on second offense.

For the record I feel strongly that "crimes against nature" has always been an anti-gay law, so I was opposed to it long before this became my lifestyle choice.

I don't see very many guys, so I'm not overly concerned. But, I will be tightening up my screening for the New Orleans area. Sorry, y'all. Discretion is important to me, so just be prepared for that uncomfortable idea. Plus, I want a real job some day.
