Default Thread Removal

Are there any steadfast / written rules on having a thread removed from the forums? When I see one disappear, I wonder how/why it is removed.

Threads are moved if they are in the wrong area. Have info in them that is against the rules. Or duplicates post or a request from the original poster to remove.

Thank you for the response.

So, all the OP has to do is request for a thread to be removed? Even if others have posted comments.

Good question...........I would hope an OP cannot remove a thread just because they do not like the direction it goes...........the community policy has always been that an OP can lock his/her thread...........I would understand the need to cull posts that interject prohibited issues........but, not remove it.

Could someone clarify this?

please do...there was a review that caused quite a stir and even had some legal ramifications that was NOT removed as requested by the OP. Please clarify.

Thank you, sir. Not sure that I'm happy with that answer, but at least now, we all know.

I agree......I am not sure an OP should be able to "take it back" after a thread turns sideways........if they can't, maybe they will learn to keep their trap shut.

I love the request to close the thread when they feel their bull shit is starting to unravel.

I'm not the OP but there is this review(that didn't get credit, BTW) involving tater salad and chihuahuas. Can that one be removed?
It's made me sick the last 30 or so times that I've read it.

To add a few things here

A OP can request to have it removed but that isnt a sure thing.
Usually within the first hours and if the thread has no responses and the OP requests to have a thread deleted that is ok If it has responses then other things are taken into consideration.

Now if a request happens the next day and such then it almost always the thread just gets closed

Hope that didnt confuse the situation

Nope,
That makes sense.

Not confusing at all but does confirm what I thought. A thread can be removed if a moderator wants to remove it. I'm not so sure that the "next day" equation enters into it. And, as you've stated here, "other things are taken into consideration".

I am reading this as there is no set rule and it is a judgment call on a thread to thread basis. I read through the rules we like to quote so much and did not find anything to validate the mods position in this thread. Maybe management (owners) could weigh in on this. I am not trying to be confrontational, just wanting to know at the end of the day if this is just a judgment call.

I guess I see this a little differently than some of my bros.........Mateo's response made sense to me.......it allows for some wiggle room.........the same wiggle room they allow themselves every time I call out Joanie, manpussy, or use the term hooktard and fucktard.

This place is going to be stiffling if you get stuck in what the meaning of "is" is.
