Default Texas considers measure to decriminalize repeat offenses for selling or buying sex

isn't this about time?

Texas considers measure to decriminalize repeat offenses for selling or buying sex

http://www.takepart.com/article/2012...ution-new-weed

the article asks this provocative question
Is Prostitution the New Weed?

Joining the slowly building multitude of state and local governments reassessing nonviolent crimes and laws that put offenders in jail, Texas may drop its felony-class charge for repeat prostitution offenders, reports say.to statutes enacted that decriminalize possession of quantities of marijuana for individual use.

As reported in the Austin-American Statesman, prostitutes and their customers can now both be charged with a fourth-class felony after three misdemeanor convictions for buying or selling sex. Of the 350 inmates in state jails on fourth-class felony buying or selling sex charges, all are women, despite the presumption that men would seem to engage in buying sex at least as often as women engage in selling it.

I think the term "decriminalize" in the article is incorrect based on simply lowering the penalty range for repeat offenders. It appears it will still be illegal, just have a cap on the sentences.

At least as the article speculates. Keep in mind that this is only "the state" and has nothing to do with the Feds being involved.

That's why I never pay for sex , just their time . If we have sex it's free , would'nt want to break the law.
