Don't Skip School in Texas!!
Boy, what a troublemaker this one is. Imagine skipping school to care for your family, and getting straight A's on top of that.
Makes the students who attend class look bad. Apparently.

Yeah, good lo' whitebread judge erring on the side of "strict constructioalism." That's what happens when everything is put on auto-pilot and reasoning is looked down upon as some sort of weak-ass "liburral" failing. That's OK, I'm sure he'll win reelection 85-15. Besides, it's just another non-white female and I'm sure most think her grades are inflated anyway (gawd, I love thinking like all the Hard Righties - so freaking easy not having to worry about facts and just go with the most accessable stereotype).

You are assuming facts not in evidence, and have constructed a straw man to suit your argument. As usual. There is nothing to support your contention, yet you congratulate yourself on your brilliance.
Nice touch, RaggedyAndy. It's nice to see you haven't lost it.

People living on autopilot drive me crazy. She is obviously a sweet, hardworking kid that deserves some human kindness. Randy what human kindness have you afforded her but trivializing her plight to suit your own vitriolic hatred of conservatives. Like most politically dogmatic people, you've turned this into a left vs right thing. The judge is an ass. There are plenty of Republican as well as Democrat asses in the world.

What does Columbine have to do with an 8th grade child working two jobs and making straight A's?

Olivia is exactly right.
People of all political persuasions recognize this for the outrageous decision that it obviously is. Instead of punishment, the young lady should have been given a merit award for her work ethic and high level of scholastic achievement.

Did you guys see in the news a school or two wants to make student ID badges that track students electronically like a GPS? I know a bit off the topic but in some ways related to the stupidity of some of the people residing over these schools. I wouldn't want my kid being tracked by a school or some type authority having their location information recorded would you?

OK read the article.. obviously this judge has no common sense nor wants to use it. Best thing to do is embarrass him and make this as public as possible in the media and elsewhere. Hopefully someone will help this girl out and get this off her record.. because it does go on her record permanently.
I wonder if she has grounds to sue this Judge who doesn't take her situation into consideration? Hmmmm...

Er, you might want to reread what I posted that you are referring to. The slam was aimed at asswholes who think as described. I think they do so in order to make up for past "overcorrections" such as affirmative action, equal rights, etc. - things that or whatever other little notions are tripping the light fantastic across their minds. Whether or not you want to admit it, those who think that way are all Hard Righties, whether of the ThugParty or Religious Right persuation. The alleged "knock" agianst "libbural" judges is that they are too light on ANY offender - such as the girl that's the subject of the post. She's an "offender," right? BTW, those knocks don't come from the left. I don't hate conservatives. But, if you're calling most of what is posted in this forum "conservative" whereas it is really reactionary. There is a big difference.

HA! COsFb, and that little pearl coming from you, the self-admitted poster of all things just to stir up sh*t for your amusement. If I were to conjure up this alleged "straw man" you refer to it would look just like you. If you had seen the original KHOU piece where the reporter interviewed the judge you, well not YOU, but any other reasonable person would see all the support they need. I can see the judge expousing all sorts of "family values" tripe at the local Rotary Club.

At least this genius dismissed the charge so she won't have this bullsh*t on her record.

So then you have proof that the judge is a Republican. Let's see it. I'd be interested.

Heh, COsFb, let me take a page out of your playbook: Why don't YOU prove that he's NOT.

Ok, I'll take that as "I have no idea whether he is a Republican or not. I just made that up to make myself look smart."
Thank you, RaggedyAndy.
