Why doesnt El Paso have its own section?
by rank it has more population than Waco Kileen put toghter
1 2,099,451 Houston
2 1,900,000Dallas Fort Worth
3 1,327,407 San Antonio
4 790,390 Austin
5 649,121 El Paso Metro area is more than 2 Million (Juarez, Las Cruces)
21 127,921 Killeen
22 124,805 Waco
and Kileen, Waco, BCS have their own section, is it a case that El Paso is getting the shaft from the rest of Texas again?
Im getting fed up opening post just to see that is from a city that is
hundreds of miles away/
Thanks

I love your enthusiasm. Actually, most of us prefer that El Paso be grouped with west Texas. We might get overlooked further if the ladies didn't see us when they are posting about Abilene, Midessa, or Lubbock. In this case, it works out for us.

This has been considered in the past and just like TPCD says, it was decided it was not practical and could actually hurt El Paso.

I tell ya...between most of Texas forgetting about El Paso, and most of New Mexico forgetting about Las Cruces, we should just merge into our own state :P Heck as far as water goes...the lower Rio Grande valley (south of Elephant Butte) is considered part of Texas not NM when it comes to surface water allication. And lets not forget that El Paso used to be the capital of the New Mexico territory at one point. EP and LC get the shaft from both their states...we should just make our own :P

It has everything to do with traffic here. The WTX boards are just not busy enough to warrant a separate section. If there were dozens of ads, reviews and discussions everyday going on, it would make the case for a separate area much stronger. We have looked at this several times in the past and its just not viable at this time.

+1,
no need of a seperate section for EP...
if someone can make the commute here easy (like moving the ground closer to dallas) then it makes sense... this f** place is 4 hrs from most cities, which is why no providers flock here.
also the city does not have any business which makes it 'rich' its kind of the poorest city in texas, and the first language here is spanish instead of english...
I bet if the city were a bit richer or at least comparable to rest of texas we would have some local talent.
If only raytheon, lockheed martin, nasa or the alike could setup big offices here in this m-town would it make a difference..

Actually interesting enough...El Paso is closer to Phoenix Arizona than to Dallas Texas. What can "help" both LC and EP is their proximity to major Interstates (I 10 and I 25). Both LC and EP are college towns and of course Military via Fort Bliss, WSMR, and even Holloman (Alamogordo) to some extent. As for big business...seems both cities are better at running major company's out of town than bringing them in due to zoning, permits, licensing, and greedy politicians. But anyway I have heard people say oh just drive to Dallas if you want more selection and always cracks me up that people don't realize that its a shorter drive to go to Phoenix than it is to drive to Dallas from out here :P

I live next to midland/odessa and our problem here is because of the oil boom providers have a hard time finding a room here unless they secure a room early in advance I also recomend to all the providers i see or talk to to go visit elpaso and several have.
