I did "a little thinking" and this is what I came up with. Japanese internment camps WERE run by "Stinkin' Liberals." The internment camps were done under FDR, the god of all liberals.

As far as Guantanamo, Obama promised to close it. Then he got into office and decided to keep it open. The last I heard Obama was a liberal.

Auschwitz was run by The National SOCIALIST Party. Hitler was not a conservative. Conservatives advocate limted government and personal freedom, two things hated by the Nazis.

If you're going to continue to use irony to make your points, you need to be more carefull. When, in an attempt be ironic, you say that Japanese internment camps were done by stinkin' liberals, and in fact they actually were, it makes you seem foolish.

First, let’s look at the three examples:

The internment camps were completely bi-partisan during WW-II. It was a general US cultural thing: Italian Americans can be trusted—but for good measure most were sent to fight in the Pacific. But those Japanese Americans, even those who had been in the US generations longer than the Italian Americans, were not to be trusted. Yes, FDR was president at the time but it was not a “Liberal” issue at the time. I sort of expected someone would make that kind of erroneous comment.

Item #2: you are joaking, aren’t you? Yes, Obama over promised during his campaign, but aren’t you forgetting it was someone else who sent those folks to Guantaamo? Now, who was that? Ah yes! A Republican with the full blessing and support of the conservatives in power at the time. So this too is a case of both parties absorbing some of the blame—but if you want to poke at only one party, shouldn’t it be the one who started it?

Item #3: Come now, quit claiming the name defines what they were. There aren’t many who would confuse the Nazis with liberals. No, they are not “conservatives” in the same sense as we use it in the US political structure, but they certainly have a number of common beliefs with the far right wing wackos such as the KKK. But the point is, they were nothing like “Liberals”, and the OP was that only Liberals would ever put people in camps.

All three truly are examples where it was far from “only liberals” who were doing this. The same held with the Japanese prison camps (done by the Japanese, not to the Japanese in this case). That too was not a bunch of liberals. Or the death pits in the Balkans where all sides were guilty to greater or lesser degrees.

So no, I see no failed irony in my examples. Evil and frightened people come in all ideologies.
