You could have a SINUS headache... If you do, absolutely nothing except Sudafed will work!!!
Sinus headaches are very, very common this time of year...I get them all the time during Spring with my horrible allergies.
I usually lie down with a cold washcloth on my head until the Sudafed kicks in!

Ginger is probably right about sinus headaches, the pine trees are pretty horny this time of year. But it's also possible you have a stress or muscle headache... or plain migraine.
I have frequent migraines and I prefer not to use prescription meds as they make me loopy. My doctor suggested this for me: every two hours alternate a regular does of Advil and Tylenol. Take the pain killer with a strong cup of coffee.
Yes, you'll be kept awake by the caffeine, but the caffeine amps up your metabolism and intensifies the pain killer's effectiveness without liver risk of a higher dosage.
YMMV of course. And hope you to get to feeling better soon.

Slingerland is definitely right about the caffeine. I always pair my sudafed with BC Powder and a cup of coffee... BC Powder has caffeine in it, too.
Ask someone who loves you to give you a backrub. That's always a good thing.

I avoid all drugs, but if a sinus headache gets unbearable, I go with a generic brand of Sudafed. The active ingredient is
pseudoephedrine hydrochloride
which is available in drug store brands for a lot less money than Sudafed.
It is behind the counter, so you have to show id to the pharmacist. People were buying it up to use in illegal concoctions. The good thing is it doesn't make you drowsy, so you can still drive.
Remember, Grandmaw might be right!
A backrub is always nice, but what if you don't have anyone who loves you?
Hope you feel better soon!

Oooo, excellent idea! You don't want an active "massage" backrub... just a slow, light stroking by the fingertips that follows the muscle contours. Light, gentle rub starting at the neck and working down bilaterlly through the calf muscles.
Go completely limp during the stroking; the stroking will relax the muscle fibers and your brain will release some small amounts of natural endorphin.
15 minutes of this and my headaches are gone... (and I'm snoring away... out like a light!)

Slingerland, you sound like you know what you're doing. My only question is when can you be here???

I can vouch for this as well. A cousin had a headache and a backache (we had just finished a day of rafting). I spent about 15 mInutes doing a light touch massage on his back, neck & face. Cured it right up.

Slingerland's absolutely correct! I have sinus migraines and I stay on a decongestant this time of year as well as a couple of prescription nasal sprays.
- dark room
- light massage
- warm compress on the neck and shoulders - one you can warm in the microwave
- sometimes it helps to alternate with cold
- caffeine source - sipping a coke is good and settles a queasy stomach caused by the headache
- Excederin Migraine helps but makes me sleep
Sorry Lacy, it really sucks to happen on a pretty day like Saturday

I don't have a long history of headaches. . . but a few years ago, I developed a series of headaches I thought to be connected to sinus/allergies. After trying everything sold OTC, unsuccessfully... and after the severity & frequency ramped up , I went to see a neurologist. When asked to describe the headache in detail.... this older Russian doctor told me, with the utmost confidence... "I know that headache! "
He prescribed "Indomethacin". I was extremely surprised at how effective, it was... immediately!!
He is a Miracle Worker!! I continue to see him now, once / year!
Google - "Indomethacin-responsive headache syndromes" . . . maybe it'll help you as well.
It's dirt cheap... and incredibly effective!!
Good Luck
