Default Golf courses for DFW visitor?

Looking for recommendations for decent courses in the DFW area.

Note: MUST have rental clubs available - mine aren't traveling with me.

Fore!

D/FW has alot of choices; but Tour 18 is one of the beter. Especially if you live in a market that doesn't have a similar track, or don't get to play America's most famous layouts !

If you stay at The Four Seasons in Las Colinas you can play the TPC course where the pros play the HP Byron Nelson tournament. They also have another track across the street.
They have rental clubs, too.

Try Cowboys, it is by the airport, yes it is run by the Cowboys. They have clubs. The fee is expensive $180 but well worth it. The course is always in great shape. The price includes any non-alcoholic drinks and food. Eat breakfast, play, lunch on the course, then dinner after all inclusive.

It all depends on where you are staying, how far you want to drive, what kind of course you enjoy and how hot you like your Cart Girls. I have played just about every Public Course, and Semi-Private course, and about half of the Private ones.

Thanks for all the suggestions, fellas. By all means, keep 'em coming.
I'm leaning towards Sky Creek and Tour 18.
TPC would be nice, but if I could afford that, I doubt I'd need to ask for input.

Las Colinas TPC is a boring track; even the pros think so....Craigs Ranch TPC is a likely replacement on the tour. You might give it a try.....but for my money; play Tour 18...it is not gimmicky a real fun course to play. How many times in your life will you get to say "I rounded Amen Corner in par"......Yes it has Amen Corner, Ray's Creek and the score boards!

Sky Creek and Cowboys Golf Club. <~ my two favorites.
Tour 18 and The Tribute. <~ you get the best of holes across the USA, and across The Pond.

Two courses in the Metroplex have hosted USGA Open Championships but I doubt you would want to play them with a set of rental clubs. Colonial C.C. over in Fort Worth hosted the 1941 U.S. Open won by Craig Wood and Northwood C.C. here in Dallas hosted the 1952 U.S. Open won by Julius Boros. Champions G.C. (Cypress Course) in Houston hosted the only other U.S. Open held in Texas in 1969. It was won by Orville Moody.
