TJ Ford retires?
Wow, that kinda came as a shock. only got to play in 14 games as a Spur. He was glad to be in SA and I think would have helped. Took a cheap shot to the back the other night - Sorry to see him go.

Yeah that's a sad situation. He looked real good in giving Tony his breaks when he played. I was really looking forward to seeing him healthy. Davis got away with at least three cheap shots in that game, I'm real surprised he didn't get fined.
I don't blame TJ for retiring, with all the neck and spine issues he's had he needs to be able to make sure he can walk away from the game on his terms.

Actually he did not retire. Later it was changed to a leave of absence where he might come back. However, it was explained to us last night by the Spurs PR people there is a lot of red ink to be done in order for him to retire and if he does so he will not receive the rest of his contracted salary or health insurance benefits. So it is in his best interest to take the leave of absence, have the league pay for his rehabilitation and collect the balance of his contract which the Spurs have stated they want to pay out. Especially considering how these last two injuries came about through no action of his own.
So there is a chance he will change his mind and Pop was very encouraging in his assessment of their talks.
Hope this helps everyone out.

That's what I heard too Rakhir...he's supposed to be staying within the Spurs organization in some way. So, does anyone think Pop will try to get Lamar Odom??? That would be kinda cool...maybe he would feel more like a *star* here and would do better...what do you think?

Well that's good news! I didn't hear that ... thanks. with his previous injuries though he would have to be used sparingly and in certain situations to give TP a rest.
Nikki ... I rather see them get Dwight Howard if he goes free agency but he'd have to get an attitude adjustment here. The Spurs have The Best low key attitudes of players than any other team in the NBA! They are a team!

Nikki I feel the Spurs is lacking another big player. I know Howard is out of our league, we would have to give up 1/2 the team for him. Also i don't think San Antonio is right for him with his style of living. Odom could help us for the remainder of the season that is if he can stay healthy and hungry for another NBA title.

I want the Spurs to go after Dwight Howard! He is free agent after this year and can you just imagine him next to Timmy? OMG it would be like the D Rob/Timmy paring!
Dwight is a freaking monster in the paint!

Daracus, absolutey! Would LOVE to have him, but Howard's way out of our league! Instead of being called The SA SPURS, we would be...The SA SPUR! (lol)
You have to feel for Odom...he gets cut from the Lakers and gets traded to Dallas (that alone would make me want to jump off a bridge,) his father passes away, gets demoted to the D league...what next? At this point, he probably could care less about playing for Dallas. We could use another big guy...heck, we took Blair when no one was really interested in him...and look how well he's starting to play. I'm just sayin'...could be a blessing in disguise!

Nikki for my understanding is Odom went to the D league on his own to work on his game. In my opinion to get his mind right.
Its a shame about Ford but at least he can still walk and enjoy his children.

I would welcome Odom as a Spur, but I'll bet his wife Khloe would hate it here. She is just too used to the glitz and glamor of LA and Hollywood. She probably equates living in our town to living in Podunk!
@ Dennis........that pic without makeup was a shocker!

Need help at guard, said it the first time Manu was hurt, JJ Barera would be a great addition to the team. Just saying.

Sorry Nikki but Odom is a joke, a professional being paid millions to do a job...but has never played with any heart. He gets put into the chris paul trade with LA which the league veto'd and said he was to hurt to ever play for the Lakers again, then in Dallas he struggles to find his role and needs to take a leave of absence?? Seriously, read through the Dallas ESPN and other sites, his own teammates current and former have nothing good to say about him, Odom has never lived up to expectations and its directly due to his lack of ever playing the game he has been paid millions for (which ironically is the only reason he is married to that "reality star" idiot in the first place) with any heart and dedication. He should just be grateful for what he has and why he has it instead of sitting in the corner sulking and crying like he has done his whole career.

Many in the club at the Center last night after the game were relating that Ford (can you say Edsel) was a liability to the team from the get go... Many pointed out that if you watched him on the bench during games - he always appeared to seem disinterested and almost "put out" when Pop would tell him to take off his sweats and get in there...
personally - I don't think Odom nor Howard are an answer for the Spurs..
