Newt Gringrich is a private citizen spending his own money. He spent his money going to Tiffany's and he spent his money on jewelry for his wife. Obama represents the country during hard times. I guess you don't remember Richard Nixon and his wife's coat. He had her wearing a cloth coat and not a fur coat because he thought the country would resent such extravagance in a president.
