I don't even try anymore. The last two times I scheduled, I had to cancel due to real life issues. I'm done scheduling for now. If I have the time, I'll just call or text and see if anyone is available on short notice. I know it's a shot in the dark. I don't feel offended if someone is busy or can't reply quickly enough. It's just how things are right now.

I had to cancel once. Fortunately, It was still 2 or 3 days out, so it wasn't a big deal for her.

Great discussion VLB!! Thanks for bringing it up. I have'nt had to cancel/postpone appts very often at all but when I do, I do give a discount and will now give extra time. Good idea.
Do you think we will ever get the same consideration from clients? For the most part, no, I dont think so, but like was mentioned above, thats the nature of the beast. I did have an exceptional gentleman in Corpus cancel once while in was there because he was sick. Not only did he call to let me know he couldnt make it, but he came by my hotel room and gave me the entire hourly rate. I tried to refuse it but he would'nt hear of it. WHAT A GUY!! So, my response was, the next hour is on me!! Its just the right thing to do!!

I live equidistant between AUS and SAT, and I began my hobby adventuring in Austin thinking double the number of providers would mean double the fun. However, two cancellations in a row has driven most of my business to San Antonio where this has never happened. Plus the women of SAT are mui fantastico!
Cancellations are inevitable on both ends of the equation, but it is always a big deal for those of us who have lots of life commitments.

I am the one who had to cancel on Nikki...yesterday on short notice and I apologized and promised her that I would make it up to her and I will. What happened was that my SO was out of town until Monday and it was after 100pm and I was getting ready in the shower...making sure that I was nice and clean. When my SO surprised me coming home early (Sat versus Mon) with her mother and of course being the dutiful son-in-law...had to make sure she felt at home...I text Nikki ASAP, felt bad becasue I was planning on having an awesome time with her...didn't even get any...SO was tired...couldn't even get it up to beat...disappointing.
I understand that her time is valuable and when we get 2gether I always try 2 fulfill her needs or wants...now I feel and look bad in Nikki's eyes and who knows when we can get 2gether... I am sorry Nikki

I try to do the same thing. All of the sudden I'll find a four hour window where I'm free to hobby on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon and try to see if I can set something up last minute. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. It is much better than planning something 4 or 5 days out only to have it blown up by your SO at the last minute and pissing off both the provider and your dear penis.
The only time I plan are times when I know I can get away from work that the SO is not aware of. If it is outside of that M-F 8 to 5 area she could screw things up at the last second because she knows I'm not at work.

Blongmar, no need to apologize! You've been a longtime friend...and I know something crazy had to have happened for you to cancel on short notice. I just found it ironic that just as I was posting...I got your cancellation! (lol) As I told you...you were the second one for the day, so it was disappointing, that's all.

VLB, Since out of the years that I've been around I've always made it up by giving them the "best" session ever even more of my time. I think there up's and down's from time to time. Keep you head high and keep going. There lots of gents that will treat you with respect even hope give you at least a couple days if they can't make it. So that way your able to schedule someone else. I'm always here for you if you need someone to talk too. <3

It doesnt happen often, maybe once a year, but in my line of work (healthcare) I have had to reschedule appointments, but never have I called and canceled. I call as soon as I know, and I always leave a tip for the inconveniance, its just the right thing to do. I been on the other end as well. Most of the time if I have seen the provider before they have always treated me to a lil extra time or offered a lil discount.
