They are going to reprogram the MAFS and fix the fuel pump module. I was going to send in my MAFS to K&N for testing because I wanted to see if it was even failing.

Lesson learned, don't upgrade a BMW with a cold air intake when it basically has one already that was designed by German engineers. lol

Just a question/thought for the diagnostic guru's in here ....

if the "computer" says a "fuel problem" that is then translated to a "fuel pump" replacement, can't that "bad" reading come from a loose vacuum line that is causing the "brains" to publish the "fuel problem" code?

In other words ...

... does it really need a new "pump module" .. or just a tight vacuum line?

I'm out of my depth with the tarted up Toyotas (Lexi) but in general terms yes. While most techs want to replace a part for any error code, the example you have given is sound. Take some "brake clean" spray it around the hoses and intake area with the engine cover removed, watch for a change in the idle. Not a perfect dianostic tool, but it can point you in the right direction.

Generally paying someone that is honest and knows what they are doing ends up being cheaper than trying to fix a modern car without the proper tools and training.

Is it a Lexus?
In general, I would guess the ECU is sensing ,possibly indirectly, low fuel pressure. Would indicate probable bad pump or fuel filter.
