Doing a little soul searching after divorce...?
I tried a few dating sites after my divorce some years back. Wasn't really sure what I was looking for or what I wanted. Too many young hotties playing games sending pics, asking for pics, tossing out wild sexual scenarios with no intention of following through. Anyway one lady asked me a simple question: what do you want in a lady? My response follows the first section of this which are the words from her profile intro which simple though they are struck me as very profound.
What do I want in a man...just a gentle man…whose heart
always has enough room for a long term friendship,
And is my companion and my lover.
Who loves movies, reading, music, walking.
And like me is still young at heart.
Who wants to do things together, even if it is
just watching TV or washing dishes or taking a walk
and talking and holding each other's hand.
This is not too much to ask, is it?
I want to talk about what really matters in life
which is love, family, and friends
and touching and holding hands
and just being loving to each other.
What Do I Want in a Lady….?
I want a lady who can be herself,
Whose presence makes me come alive
And the radiance of what she brings forth in me
Reflects back to her and makes her feel
Completely free, completely herself.
She is able to laugh or cry or joke or speak
In the freedom that she has worth,
A mind with sweet thoughts and lofty dreams,
fears, secrets yet to be revealed to me,
But she knows when they come forth,
She will never be less a woman.
She has a heart filled with compassion,
a sense of humor.
She is my equal, not seeking to be worshipped.
She is someone who really listens
With an open mind
and her heart and can respond
not in malice but sound reason.
When I confess my faults and mistakes,
She does not leave my heart and ego
Like a piece of meat upon the table,
To rot, feeling no compassion,
Offering no comfort or understanding
That a man, her man, has exposed
All of himself for her to love or ridicule.
I want a lady who allows me to be,
All that I am and she encourages me
To strive and grow, to improve myself.
She will not lie to me;
she will not compromise her integrity,
and makes me toe the line
To strive to do what is right and proper
Even if she must scold
and offer a strong opposite opinion.
But she does it all with love,
And that love never is in doubt,
never questioned because I feel it all the time,
both in and out the bedroom,
in everything we do,
Every little chat, every hug
while she does the dishes,
When we laugh because I burned a pizza,
When we cry together watching movies.
I want to feel moments that time stops
And the world fades away when we’re together,
Because we are into each other and nothing else.
We look into each others' eyes
And disappear into that mysterious,
inexplicable place Of wonder,
feeling he/she is like no other…
I really love him; I really love her…
While we feel the fire inside us that leaves no doubt.
