BUmp a thread ???

what does this mean i have seen it a few time on older reviews...

any info please??

When you post a Reply to a thread, it has the effect of moving that thread to the top of the list. Threads that are older than 30 days (last reply in the thread) are considered 'stale' and you are not suppose to 'bump' them, ie. post a reply in there.

Not on the eccie staff; however agree with FoorLong and thanx for that explanation.

I must say though - when I mentioned something similar one time here -- one of the Administrators referred me to this rule and was very succinct in pointing out the last sentence (highlighted) to me which I thought was interesting because I don't understand why they can be bumped.

".....#13 - In our review forums, be mindful of the 'maturity' of threads you are posting to, ie. the date of the last item posted. We ask that you refrain from posting to a review in which the last post was made 30 or more days ago. Some exceptions may apply if you are providing relevant, valuable or updated information about the provider, but as a general rule of thumb, this can best be accomplished by writing a new review altogether and avoiding the bumping of old ones. This applies to our review forums, in particular, as discussion threads are often allowed to flow for an unspecified length of time....."

FootLong nailed it. Replying to threads older than 30 days is not allowed per forum guidelines hence when you post in a thread older than 30 days it pushes it up, that is what we refer to "bumping" a thread..... so please please please dont do it. Thanks!

Yes, Rule 13 is quite clear about the bumping of review threads. However, there is nothing in the Forum Guidelines about the bumping of other threads. So, the bumping of those threads cannot be addressed.

Got it and I guess from what I'm reading its okay to post in threads OTHER THAN reviews to things more than 30 days old.
