by the logic of you butt-fucking monkeys, that was Carter's fault........you are comparing recovery to recession.....you need to compare recovery to recovery....more liberal statistical manipulation and lies......

By “Star Wars” you are of course referring to the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI)? Here’s an update:

NATO Surrenders Europe To U.S. Global Missile Shield Project
February 7, 2011
By Rick Rozoff

On January 27 [2011] the North Atlantic Treaty Organization took the most decisive step yet toward the implementation of the decades-old project first proposed by the Ronald Reagan administration for a Strategic Defense Initiative, popularly known as Star Wars. . . .
This year the Pentagon will begin its announced ten-year Phased Adaptive Approach (sometimes with a comma between the first two words) project to deploy medium- and intermediate-range interceptor missiles on ships in the Baltic Sea and Mediterranean Sea, which will be followed by the stationing of no fewer than 48 advanced Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) interceptors in Eastern Europe: 24 each in Romania and Poland.

The SM-3 is a ship-based missile jointly developed by the U.S. and Japan which will be deployed on Aegis class guided missile destroyers and cruisers in the two above-mentioned seas. A land-based version of the missile (Aegis Ashore) will be deployed near the Baltic and Black Seas in Poland and Romania.
http://inteldaily.com/2011/02/nato-s...hield-project/

The Aegis ballistic missile defense (BMD) program, which is carried out by the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and the Navy, gives Navy Aegis cruisers and destroyers a capability for conducting BMD operations. Under MDA and Navy plans, the number of BMD-capable Navy Aegis ships is scheduled to grow from 23 at the end of FY2011 to 41 at the end of FY2016, and the cumulative number SM-3 Aegis BMD interceptor missiles delivered to the Navy is scheduled to grow from 111 at the end of FY2011 to 341 at the end of FY2016.
Under the Administration’s European Phased Adaptive Approach (EPAA) for European BMD operations, BMD-capable Aegis ships will operate in European waters to defend Europe from potential ballistic missile attacks from countries such as Iran. BMD-capable Aegis ships also operate in the Western Pacific and the Persian Gulf to provide regional defense against potential ballistic missile attacks from countries such as North Korea and Iran. http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/weapons/RL33745.pdf

Obama "confirmed the commitment of the United States to implement the Phased Adaptive Approach to European missile defense, including basing land-based SM-3 interceptors in Poland as part of this program in the 2018 time frame, and expressed his gratitude for the commitment by the government of Poland to host this system." http://europe.mediamonitors.net/content/view/full/81113

Obama also confirmed a commitment by the United States to implement a missile defense system for Europe, known as Phased Adaptive Approach, which includes locating land-based SM-3 missile interceptors in Poland by approximately 2018. The president praised Poland for agreeing to host a portion of the missile defense system and for hosting an Air Force detachment that will help with training and defense. U.S. military aircraft will periodically rotate into Poland. http://www.america.gov/st/peacesec-e...92422e-02.html

President Obama has approved the recommendation of Secretary of Defense Gates and the Joint Chiefs of Staff for a phased, adaptive approach for missile defense in Europe. This approach is based on an assessment of the Iranian missile threat, and a commitment to deploy technology that is proven, cost-effective, and adaptable to an evolving security environment.
Starting around 2011, this missile defense architecture will feature deployments of increasingly-capable sea- and land-based missile interceptors, primarily upgraded versions of the Standard Missile-3 (SM-3), and a range of sensors in Europe to defend against the growing ballistic missile threat from Iran. This phased approach develops the capability to augment our current protection of the U.S. homeland against long-range ballistic missile threats, and to offer more effective defenses against more near-term ballistic missile threats. The plan provides for the defense of U.S. deployed forces, their families, and our Allies in Europe sooner and more comprehensively than the previous program, and involves more flexible and survivable systems.

Perhaps you are too young to remember the event depicted in the picture below, but it was a monumental achievement brought about in part because of the mere “threat” of the SDI (AKA: “Star Wars”) program. Today, the U.S. has new enemies:

Iran downs U.S. 'spy drone'
July 20, 2011|By the CNN Wire Staff

Iran has brought [euphemism for "shot"] down a U.S. "spy drone" flying near its Fordo nuclear enrichment plant in Qom province, state-run media reported Wednesday.

No, I am not actually talking about SDI- Reagan actually wanted a system designed where there would be "lasers" that would be able to shoot down Russian Missiles from space once they were launched- of course in the 80's this was seen as some futuristic "Sci-Fi" weapon but Regan was adamant that it could be built- but the cost of such program at that time was astronomically high.

So once again I am not talking about the ground base SDI program but rather the program where these lasers and satellites would be placed in space and able to shoot down Russian nukes with lasers from space.

The Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), also known as Star Wars, was a program first initiated on March 23, 1983 under President Ronald Reagan (some of the ideas were abstract and never went beyond the "idea" stage, but the space and ground aspects were all part of SDI, All the money spent went into SDI.). http://www.coldwar.org/articles/80s/SDI-StarWars.asp
