I personally struggle leading a lady during the first encounter or two until I really am comfortable and understand boundaries. After I am comfortable, or if we have setup a specific role play or fetish scene, I will lead.

I can be comfortable leading or being lead but tend to lead. A convoluted answer, unfortunately.
