Smarmy, so it's ok for the police to be judge, jury and executioner? He's not entitled to any rights provided by the Constitution? And the police are entitled to confiscate and destroy evidence, if the perpetrators are the police themselves? Might as well get used to it, America. It's where we are heading.

It is their job or "duty" if you will to protect the rest of society from some deranged mad ass using a 4000 lbs automobile as a weapon.

The rest of the bullshit is just some dumbass sticking his dick where it doesn't belong. Get the fuck out of the way. Let the cops do their job. High speed pursuit, deadly police shootout, crazy and still unsecured scene and this asshole is standing there recording everything with his fucking Iphone. His mistake was getting too close to the action. Wouldn't have been a problem if he simply GTFO!

If the police were acting within their authorized parameters, which would include killing the guy if he were presenting a threat to them at the time of arrest, then the video shouldn't be a problem. It was a public action on a public street involving people being paid by the public. It's not up to the police what can be filmed, and they certainly cannot take a private citizen's property and destroy it without due process of law. But we are becoming a police state, and less a democratic republic. That's why I say get used to it. But I won't.

Normally I am the first to say that COG doesn't know what the fuck he is talking about, but I tend to agree with him in this situation. Although, I don't think we are more of a police state, but just that with the advent of media access in everyone's hands we just hear about it more. Cellphones with video and camera recording capability, 24-hour news networks, and the internet have just made the world "smaller." The bad thing about the above video is the police claim the driver tried to use his vehicle as a weapon against them, but we don't know for sure, since there is no proof, and I tend to question whether the police were really in harm's way. They sure weren't when the car was just parked there in the intersection. More importantly, I wonder how many citizens were in harm's way with the crossfire of the police, but the video only shows so much.

Swarmy, I don't see how in the hell you think the person shooting the video was in the wrong for any reason what-so-ever. How did this inhibit the police from doing their job? Let's call this video exactly what it is... a police sanctioned execution. The driver deserved his due process via the court system per the Constitution of the United States of America. If you are against this, well I don't know what to say. Calling the man a deranged mad ass when you probably don't know the whole story is a little judgmental.
