About 15-20 years go at the IRS office in Austin one of the upper management types was ordering tens of thousands of returns destroyed in their unopened envelopes whenever processors started falling behind. If I remember correctly the woman got three years. I hope she was in that building.

If the economy and unemployment don't start getting better I fear this is just the tip of the iceberg.

The building that was damaged handled audits and investigations. The tax return filing center is on the other side of town.

Did you know that the investigators get a percentage of those audits? And if someone turns you in, they could also get a %.

IRS Agents no longer get a percentage. They stopped that policy 10 years or so ago.
