There is nothing benign about "helping" someone to the point of continuing generation poverty, and that is exactly what the majority of programs designed to help the poor do - keeps them poor and assures their children will be poor as well. ..........you are so right on.

No, doesn't piss me off, just undermines your statements, I mean if you cant do something as simple as using the quote feature, your not really someone who's point is worth listening to.

My comment was in response to Muffrider's assertion that at least liberal's brand of 'racism' was benign and well intentioned. I made the point that there is nothing benign about offering 'help' that has the effect of locking an individual into poverty and ensuring that generational poverty will continue.
I neglected to add then, but will also state here, that you can't claim the intentions are good when the purpose of these programs is to lock in a voting base.

Riiiiight. Also, your assumption that people are 'locked into poverty' is wrong. Examples are all around you.
I neglected to add then, but will also state here, that you can't claim the intentions are good when the purpose say youof these programs is to lock in a voting base. If you teach a starving man to fish instead of feeding him fish, and don't give him a pole, line or lures...he'll die.

It baffles my mind how people can believe in Ayn Rand's "I gots mine!" ideas all week long and then believe in Jesus' teachings on Sunday. Happy Easter!

Let's see.
Door #1: Conservative Racism - you are an institutionalized second-class citizen(solely due to your own lack of effort and ambition) and as such you are culturally and societally relegated to positions of menial servitude, you can not - I say again -CAN NOT kiss, hug, fornicate with, have sex with or marry whom you choose, and(hypocritically) the only big government allowed is the one that we're in favor of ....
Door # 2: Liberal Racism - you may be an institutionalized second-class citizen - but we'll ,at least pretend, to help you out a little because we actually acknowledge that we just may have had some hand in helping to develop a culture of mindless menials meant to serve us, but you may kiss, hug, fornicate with, marry, whomever you choose - as long as it's not our daughters(elitists), wink, lol, and(hypocritically) the only big government allowed is the one that we're in favor of ....
I think that I'd pick Door # 2 every time out, but i doubt that someone who's being discriminated against would actually take the time to decide exactly which brand of racism is being applied. lol. It's a scientific fact, I've read it in Harper's Weekly and Poor Richard's Almanac, lol, that Liberal racism hurts 35-68 % less, partially because Liberal racism allows for some forms of upward mobility while Conservatism, by definition and practice, simply seeks to maintain the status quo of rich, well-to-do, white folks.
What's even more funny to me, is that there are any Conservatives involved in the hobby world, at all. For some reason I don't think that hobbying meshes well with the Christian Evangelical Right and Conservative, "God and Country", Honest, Hard-working, Law-Abiding(wink-wink hobbyists and providers), God-Fearin', Gun-totin' voting base. Ask Elliot Spitzer - oh - and Matt Bartle. lol.
And I still can't decide which hurts more:
'help' that has the effect of locking an individual into poverty and ensuring that generational poverty will continue.
OR
minimum wages
We should take a poll. lol.

There are so many different kinds of conservatives don't you know. There are religious conservatives which are a minority in the moment. There are fiscal conservatives which have the floor at the moment. There are foreign policy conservatives, constitutional conservatives, and social conservatives. You can be a hawk, anti-high tax, anti-government waste, pro-constitution, and a social conservative without being religious. I am one such person. I believe in the constitution rather than believe in the bible.
The fatal flaw in the description of racism; it presupposes that all racist actions will be taken by white people which in itself is racist I guess. Anyone can be racist, prejudiced, and bigoted without breaking any laws. Sometimes you have to read between the lines. Two people having a heated discussion about welfare recipients and the conservative is winning (of course) suddenly the liberal plays the race card and says that you hate black people. This is the first time race came up in the conversation and it presupposes that the liberal feels that all or most people on welfare are black which is not true. Two people are arguing about illegal immigration when the desperate liberal suddenly shouts that you hate Mexican people. This is also the first time in the conversation that race or nationality has come up. In both cases the liberal was the one using stereotypes and possessed a racial misconception inside their head. This also reveals some racist attitudes on the part of the liberals.

Oh yes, I have found that left leaners tend to be far MORE racist but sneakier about it than rights. The idea that these poor minorities can't do anything for themselves so we must do it for them/help them/feel guilty about it is much more damaging and offensive than someone that doesn't really think about it and occasionally uses n*gger in the company of others.
Also, lefties tend to be far more antisemitic than they would like to have brought to light.
*for the easily riled...the language used above deliberately emphasizes the word "tend" not the work "are" This is an important distinction.
