OK. My viewpoint on this, whether it's wanted or not.
If you're a public figure or interact with people, you're going to have some people say bad or wrong things. I am a somewhat public figure in my real life and have reviews of me all the time, something like 70 reviews every 3 months! Many of the people writing them are clueless. Despite that fact, the majority of them say wonderful things, a few see things I should improve, and then there are some crazy people. Any intelligent person can figure out these categories.
I've only read good things about you, and one review would make me question the reviewer first. I would look up the history of that reviewer. If they're inexperienced, just blow it off. If the person is a trusted reviewer, well then, I would check both sides and see whether there's just a mismatch. If I decide you're my type and the majority of the reviews are positive and reflect my tastes, I'll pursue an appt. (By the way, maybe if you come back ...
)
On your other point, these reviews should be protected from providers reading. We can write more honestly and people can make their decisions. Providers will do that about me, and, in fact, have in their secret forums. I don't have the opportunity to defend myself against a particular post. I have established a good reputation with several providers and my reviews are clearly trustworthy. I hope a provider would give me the same consideration too.
This is true for you. If this is a singular occurrance and not a trend, think of it as an anomaly and don't let it get to you. It's just a waste of psychological energy and actually calls more attention to the issue to defend yourself at length.
So, in sum, don't be offended. Just do the good work you do and your business will thrive.
