for the record, Phil was only in SWO for 6 years, he was a assistant for Bear Bryant, so he had a good back ground but just like Blake that all does not always translate to good HC's. However Phil was a pretty good stockbroker in Dallas. Where Blake could be seeing prison time
Back then we had an AD named Henry Iba, ring any bells? a hall of fame basket ball coach, so football was not our priority.
for the record part II, the last pic is the most important

Only an Agro-American (even if he's the OP) can hijack his own thread and morph it into the usual wannabe rant.....

LOL. John Blake. Now that's a coach perfect for Zerou, a guy on the take. I'm sure the bootlegger was real happy to see his legacy of cheating thrive, everywhere but on the field. Makes him look better. But seriously, every elite program hits the wall at some point and UT did last year. Part of it was the crap shoot that recruiting is, some players just don't pan out no matter how much coaching they get. Part of it was hangover from the BCS title game, and part of it was Mack's near absolute loyalty to his assistants, especially Greg Davis. some of it was lack of hard work by the players, a sense of entitlement. I like Harsin as the new OC, Paul Crist of Wisconsin was offered the job first from the rumor mill but i think Harsin will revive UT's run game back to the days of old, in part due to better offensive line coaching.
Mack is at the JoePa vs. Bobby Bowden crossroads. My bet is JoePa, who turned out to be right that Penn State had the talent but needed some fresh ideas to return to elite status. Texas will be a completely new team next year and immediately return to elite status. Nothing like getting a some dirt rubbed in yer face to get that attitude back.

he did have a good background ...
Phil Cutchin (September 9, 1920 – January 7, 1999) was an American football player and coach in the United States. He served as the head football coach at Oklahoma State University–Stillwater from 1963 to 1968, compiling a record of 19–38–2. Although he never had a winning season at Oklahoma State, he led the team to their first win over Oklahoma in 20 years. He played college football at the University of Kentucky, where he subsequently worked as an assistant coach under legendary coach Bear Bryant and accompanied Bryant to coach at Texas A&M and Alabama.

Ok, Randy, explain how that bad of a coach could beat Zerou?
Ah don't bother you can't even explain why Zerou fans show up to games looking like faggots with strange objects on their heads .. or is that their real heads? hard to tell.
better yet, explain
59 - 41 - 5
and just for good measure ..
How 'bout them TCU Horned Frogs!

Kid! I wondered where you might be when this thread popped up and went a page without you chiming in. Glad to know that your computer privileges were restored at the Home for the Orange-ially Insane...lol.
JoePa and Bobby Bowden...LMFAO! Now, there's a wet dream if there ever was one.

Yeah, Blake blew alright. So did Howard Schnellenberger and Gary Gibbs. All big mistakes, same with McWilliams and Mackovik. The thing is, shit rolls downhill, and it was time for Mack Brown to go to the house a long time ago. The time will come for Bob Stoops to go, too, but not for a while. Boomer Sooner.
