Carter was too moral to be a good president but he is a good man. unlikely any of these passengers (Carter could easily take a private plane as his net worth is a reported 10 million) will ever get to greet a former president like this if they live to be 98.

Carter could easily be worth 100 million today if he wanted to be.

this needs a bump in light of Carter making it to 100 yesterday ..

yet another thing any other former president would eschew. all of them would be on a private jet.

not Carter.

regardless of what i think of him as president it would have been an honor to shake his hand

I think it shakes all by itself.

Poor Jimma nearly got rode out of town on a rail for admitting he lusted in his heart for another woman.

The bar used to be a lot higher.

Happy Birthday, President Carter.

Trump wouldn't do that. neither would Obama or Clinton. Bush Jr "maybe".

rankings are arbitrary horseshit anyway. it all depends on WHO does the ranking yeah?
I did not say Carter's humanitarian work had any realtion to his presidency. I am saying his work after leaving office was great for his legacy.

Yes, rankings of presidents is arbitrary for sure. But if you look at the rankings from C-Span which is considered the best of the ranking sources it would be hard to find bias in them.

142 "experts" completed the most recent survey and ranked each ex-POTUS from 1-10 on 10 important attributes. I could not tell you what each of the 44 men who held the office of POTUS did well and what they did poorly. I doubt you can. But some people do have that knowledge. In C-Span's rankings, 4 of the top 10 are Republican and 4 are Democrat. The bottom 3 are Democrat. Hard to claim bias.

Carter is probably the best example of how a very decent moral man can make an absolutely terrible President.

exactly. Carter's morality prevented him from making hard cold decisions. he waited far too long during the Iran hostage crisis to act. and this man was a Navy officer. he should have sent in a strike force as soon as the military said they were ready.

The peanut still around?

In the past, I could always respect the person that held the office of the President. Even the ones I didn't agree with or disliked.

Donny is the first one that I can not do this.

Hung on long enough to stick it to Trump.

Jimmy Carter, 100, Casts Ballot For Kamala Harris In 2024 Election

Jimmy Carter voted by mail today in the 2024 presidential election, fulfilling a goal as he remains in hospice care and passed his 100th birthday earlier this month.

A spokesperson for the Carter Center confirmed that the former president cast his ballot, but provided no other details.

The ballot was put in a drop box at the Sumter County Courthouse near Plains, GA, where he lives.

Jason Carter, his grandson, told ABC News this week that the former president planned to vote for Kamala Harris. Jason Carter had said during the summer that his grandfather had a goal of living long enough to vote for Harris.
